3-Blink turn signal

Can this be done?

Ive been driving around my wife's 2015 Civic and man i love that 1 click 3 blink signal to change lanes..

When i get back into my TL i forget it doesnt have it..

Really nice feature to add to the tl if its possible without breaking the bank or having to buy some module to install..

That will need some modification.
The 3 blinks wouldn't be so difficult but you'll need to have a turn signal switch that will move accordingly (possibility of not clicking when pressed/half-pressed in one direction, otherwise you'll only end up making the switch click most of the time).
You will definitely need a module to control the number of blinks, a small microcontroller can do this job just fine (pretty simple).

in the TL, I always do the half click and leave my hand there then lift my hand after.
so, its almost as similar to the automated three click found in newer cars.

I daily drive a Kia that has the three click implementation and I only need to slap it once and take my hand away, so I do feel your pain

I can build that, easy. I'll throw it in the funnel of ideas. :)

Sorta off topic... but is that what that shit is?!

I had a 2015 Civic as a loaner and that thing irritated the frick out of me.
I'm old school, signal--leave it there--manually reset it.

In the Civic it either wouldn't stay signalling, wouldn't signal at all or would signal forever and I couldn't turn it off.
Or when I did 'turn it off' it would suddenly start signalling the other direction. I also noticed the lever doesn't click or travel as far as a 'traditional' signal-lever.
It came to the point where I was using hand signals to merge cause I refused to use the stupid turn signal.

it feel weird in the TLX and even weirder in the Lexus IS since they use electronic lever instead of mechanical lever.

LOL - I guess there are different "old schools" :tomato:

I'm confused as to what this is.

You slightly press on the turn signal arm either for left or right and it doesn't "click" in place. It makes the turn signal blink 3 times. This is good for lane changes for people who forget to disable their turn signal after changing lanes. If you want to signal at an intersection, you press the turn signal completely and it clicks into place like a classic turn signal.

If you drive a BMW, this is all irrelevant, the turn signal is an option. :tomato:

havn't experienced this "3 blink" feature, but sounds cool

i see other cars implemented it using a relay, i don't see why its not possible to do on the TL :)

gatrhumpy im sure you can get it done

Hahah. It is a bit sensitive. I guess it's not for everyone. I love that feature. My brothers cars also have it and I am so use to it when i driver her car. Ive never had a problem with it.

Would be nice to have it on the TL too

thoiboi 11-19-2015 01:07 PM

I think it's a neat feature. Interested to see the outcome. Like GP said, will involve a relay of sorts..

csmeance 11-19-2015 08:56 PM

it may be simple to do depending on what is involved, perhaps a small module connected to a turn stalk from the new TLX.

Dingo 11-25-2015 12:35 AM

mostly every car i drove in Germany or Netherlands or France back in 2006-2008 had that feature - it was awesome!
Let's get this done for our TL's!!!

NBP04TL4ME 11-25-2015 11:40 AM

I do this manually on the highway.

Same, I just press it a little, but not enough to click it into the "locked until turns complete position." It will signal for as long as you hold it there, usually I just do it for a few blinks.

My last car was kinda busted and for right turn signal it was manual on/off only.

I also was driving my girlfriends BMW and I think it has a similar system. It was pissing me off by not staying on when I thought I fully engaged it. No wonder beemer drivera never use their signals.

Chad05TL 11-27-2015 06:57 PM

just flash once. and move fast.. haha
