2nd Oil Change?

I just took in my 04TL for it's 1st service @ 7,200 miles -- Service A1 indicator -- oil change and tire rotation ($58 -- probably a little high compared to a non-Acura service shop, but I'm planning to stay with Acura for all maintenance and see how it goes).

A couple of questions for those of you with more miles:

1. Will the system tell me when it's time for my next oil change?
2. Is the next oil change in another 7,500 miles or the customary 3,000 miles?

the system will tell you when to bring it in again for service. it might or might not be another 7500 miles. it is suppose to vary depending on drivng habits and environment conditions. personally i think 7500 mile between oil changes or even leaving it in there for excessive amount of time is too long. i see you got your car in sept, so the oil you have in there is 7 months old. i would have brought it in sooner as i am not comfortable with that notion. i know alot of people here obey the mid religously(i do as well) but if the mid starts to extend the time interval between oil changes i would probably bring it in before it says to do so. my mid is pretty steady and tells me to bring the car in just about every 5K miles.

One good rule of thumb is 5000 or 3-4 months (roughly once per season).

7500 miles is too long

A good rule of thumb for the lifespan of conventional motor oils is to go 4,000 miles if there is more than 50% of city driving, and 6,000 miles if highway makes up at least 75% of the miles.

Longer intervals should ONLY be determined by oil analysis.

Failure to follow reasonable intervals will cause excessive sludge and varnish buildup in the engine, thus, further reducing oil life.
