2nd Gen Acura TL-S vs Lexus SC430!!!

0-60? 1/4 Miles? 0-120?

I was just curious.

I think I may have to race my brother who has 2002 TL-S (was my car) soon.

but look at what the 430 is trapping. that 14.8 could easily be a 14.5 or better based on trap and given its weight.

stock vs. stock SC430 will beat a tl-s pretty easily.

those stats are crap to be honest. the SC430 has 290-300HP and 325lb/ft torque and weighs about the same as a tl-s so there is no way a tl-s can keep up, those numbers aren't correct in real world driving. go and find out and race a SC430, i hope the tl-s wins, but i doubt it.

But my freind the numbers dont lie. I see what your saying in terms of being in the real world but with numbers that close it would really be a toss up on who is driving and other real life factors. You just cant say that the lexus will destroy the tl.

Edmunds.com got 6.7 seconds to 60 for the SC430 - shocking to them since it's 4.3L V8 has 300hp and 325tq. They were stumped, but it could have been conditions. But the SC430 is no light-weight, it weighs 3840lbs. They did clock the LS430 (with the same engine + more weight) at 5.9 seconds to 60, though... so I think the TL-S will lose.

in real world driving of course a tl-s could win with a good launch and bad driver in the SC430, but two equal drivers of same weight and same launch and I believe the SC430 would win, I agree 3840 is heavy(didn't think it was that heavy?) but the power difference out weighs the extra weight. 04 TL speed would have a better chance, actually with all these different sources putting out high 0-60 numbers for the SC430, I bet a 04 TL 6 speed could beat one. I have read same about LS430 and GS430 5.9 0-60 and one 5.7 0-60 for GS400, strange Lexus made the SC430 so heavy they could easily take out 500-600lbs off that and it would be fast as hell, what a waste Lexus!

keep in mind that with the sc430 lexus' focus was luxury not drag racing.

don't underestimate the TL-S... 1/4 mile times it gets beat by a .2 seconds not 1 full second....

I think its a drivers race...

.2 seconds in the 1/4 mile is ~2 car lengths which is a pretty significant win. stock vs. stock the tls will lose.

I was going to race my brother last week but he had a flat tire & 3 of his 4 wheels are bent beyond repair so I have to wait until he gets new wheels.

I will post the results but it may be a whilebefore we race since he currently has 16" 2000 TL stock wheels.

i agree...i raced against a sc430 before and yeah it smoked me pretty bad...

At a 'Taste of Lexus' event I drove the SC430 and it did have MUCH more pull that I thought it would despite its curb weight.
