Haha, thanks.

I just can't imagine people sitting in traffic with the clutch pedal in all the time (poor throw out bearing), or working the hell out of their clutch just due to traffic (no wonder your clutch is gone after 30K miles). Now on any up hill bit of road, it is a bit more difficult, but you should be able to figure it out.

So, today's Top Gear top tip, if you're stuck in traffic, leave a gap and save yourself (and your clutch) the wear and tear.

It is not "Auto Hate". It is just that he is 31 and coming from a 2006 Acura TSX 6 speed. There is no way he should be buying an Auto yet. That is for the 40+ guys that might say something like, "I like to be able to drive casually".

To the OP: Do NOT buy the Auto! Take your time and find the 6MT you want.

I thought someone was going to say, if you're going to get the S, then of course you want the 6mt, or what's the point? But maybe I'm wrong.

To follow up on my earlier post, first, thanks for the feedback from various folks. Really appreciate it.

The day after I spotted that 07 TL-S with 27K miles at $24.5, listed on the Inet, it disappeared off the inventory list -- Sold before I got to see or drive it. But another one has popped up at this link:

http://radleyacura.com/Washington-DC...r-Car/2963662/

Again a 2007, 31K miles. No price, just "Call us". I'm going to try to drive it tomorrow morning. Will check back in... but any thoughts based on the pictures, etc?

Damn, I just realized that isn't a 6MT! Must've been smokin' something... Oh well, the search goes on.

I've driven manual transmissions all my life. My first automatic was a 2003 TL-S. I now own a 2007 TL-S and do a bunch of city driving. For that kind of driving the automatic is the way to go. Either way you won't be dissapointed with a 2007/08 TL-S.

The 6MT is win win no matter which way you look at it. I'm not hatin on the autos because I have had an auto type s as well, but I am happy to be in a 6spd now.
The 6MT is:
Quicker, more fun, rare, better on fuel....did I mention quicker and more fun? :-)

Like we said though don't lose patience because if you are not willing to travel to get one you might be waiting a long time for the right one to pop up.

Hey guys/gals! Just want to give an update to the tread I started.. Bought me a 2008 TL-S yesterday. Here's the specs on the car:

Color: Diamond White Pearl
Miles: 55K
Price: 20 G's

I'm fine with Automatic since I'm tired of dealing with the creaking sound of the Clutch MC on my 06 TSX. The number 1 factor to moving to automatic was that the dealer said " it's a common problem and it's normal". Anyway, I still have my TSX so no biggy for me. Also I couldn't pass up on this car since it was owned by a retired couple. Shape of the car is immaculate. Most of the TL's I've looked at was owned my teenagers or Adults but with teens.

Loven the car..Also I've checked the MPG and i'm averaging 32 MPG to my commute to work. Same as my TSX. Nice...

Congrats. Its a great car. I prefer manual myself but I understand your reasoning for the Auto. anuals at this point are impossible to find and the ones that are out there have high mileage and cost a ton.

Just stumbled on this thread while trying to find a difference between the 07 and 08's. I'm also in the hunt, but sadly not looking at the MT's (flame away if necessary) but I only want ti for casual driving.

It's damn tough to find one with low mileage at a decent price.

gratz on the purchase of your new TLS. TLS is a great car regardless of 5AT or 6MT, just find the one that you like and go for it. It's like love at first sight.

Plus, a lot of car companies are now going with the dual clutch with a torque converter that lock up very early into gears. Three weeks ago, i took my dad Lexus LS to the dealer for a oil change and a minor problem for the dealer to look at. While i wait, i took a walk from the service up to the car sale to check out newer model cars of lexus. There were two ISF parked, so i was "window shopping" i guess and the salesman saw me and ask me to take it for a test drive and omg i dont think i could love an auto anymore than it but 8 spds is too much for that car i think.

I was looking for about 6 months for a white diamond pearl TL-S. Living in Arizona, you would understand.
1st one was owned by a teenager and it had 32k miles on it. Problem was that the car had a messed up passenger side mirror due to reversing into the garage wall. Then he also had 4 different brand tires that i never heard of before. Scratches and dings on the body.

2nd was adult owned but he also had a teenage son. Car had 45k miles. Popped the hood and there was a aftermarket intake. Warning sign..

Anyway, found my car and was happy to take it away from the hands of the retired couple. Thank you retired couple for a clean car and good thing retired peeps come to Arizona. LOL..

tell me about it. When i first in the market for a TLS, i stumped upon a few 6MT but most are all ding up. one in particular, a 2007 black on black with only 39k but 3 owners already... the car was all stock but no way in hell i'm taking a 3 years old car with 39k with 3 owners. I end up bought a pearl white 08 CPO all stock and one owner. I'm into mods but i like to mod my car the way i like it.

It is very tricky when buying car like TLS when most owners would mod their cars one way or the other and it is even harder when trying to buy a "nice" TLS 6Spds with clean background and no abuse. Just b/c it is low mileage doesn't mean the previous owner didn't drive the shit out of it.

Not True! I bought my TL-S for a daily driver as gift to myself on retirement at 55....I have always loved the MT over an auto. Sometimes we have to compromise.....but not this time!

I intentionally bought the AT. I did so because there are 3 other cars in our garage that are manuals. I drive the TL daily and am not looking to "have fun" on my literally 3 mile straight commute with 1 90* turn in the whole thing.
I also own a couple of motorcycles and when I really want to have fun, I will take one of those out...not my 4 door sedan.
