lmao at acurazines financial advisers.
but i would definitely get a type S. the 750 is a nice car, but it cost more in every way (GAS!!!, maintenance, etc...), and i doubt that many people need a car the size of a ship.

With state of the economy, and your age, its not a very good idea to leverage every last cent you have into a car, and then have payments on top of it. Its this sort of attitude that have people losing their houses these days. Keep up with the Joneses', and live on credit.
Sorry if this sounds harsh, but this should be advice that your parents should be giving you.

Dude! get the 750 and roll like a Boss!
alternatively, you can also think about getting a 2005 BMW M5...friend of mine picked one up for 36k in awesome condition. Runs like a beast. Only reason I got the 08 TL was cuz I couldn't go over 33k after tax and fees and the wife was going to drive it as well and needed something more family oriented. I love my TL though, best compromise between being a family man and getting a luxurious sporty car for under 35k.

I can only imagine what the insurance would be for a 21 y/o driving a late model M5. That and the fact that it would be wrapped around a tree or another car within weeks. Not good advice.

I think you and everyone else in this thread gets my point. Calling people "a-hole" and saying the "OP is full of shit" clearly violates the rules for posting in 3G and will not be tolerated.
On the same note, the OP also needs to calm down as well in his responses.
Any further discussion on this matter should be made by PM.
Can't we all just get along?
Thanks.

that is an ignorant statement. i am 24 now, and at 21 i was driving an 03 cobra that was putting down over 500 whp. not all people 21 are idiots, and i have seen plenty of middle age crisis men in their corvettes and vipers wrap them around telephone poles. it is actually better to own fast cars when you are young while you still have quick reflexes.

funny you talk about having a 03 cobra cause my dad kept his C5 and went to the new C6 and i drove the C5 for a good while until i bought the 04 tl and now i own a 08 TL-S. Age is a factor for driving such expensive cars or fast ones......but cmon the kid has dreams... let him get the damn 750 if he wants and be proud of him!

I never said all 21 year old poeple are idiots. And it isn't about quick reflexes...it is about experience behind the wheel. There happens to be a reason that insurance companies charge more for drivers under 21 and 25 years old. Younger drivers are more likely to "show off", swing the back end of a RWD car out around corners, drag race, etc.
You never mentioned how "reasonable" your insurance was as a 21 y/o driving a 2 year old Cobra. I am guessing at least a couple grand a year.
I was 21 y/o male driver a while ago. At that time, I too would have thought my statement was ignorant. You will have a different view in 10-15 years.

well i will give you that, my insurance on the cobra when i was 21 was 390 a month.
yes young drivers are more likely to show off, but mainly the steep insurance for young people is due to young females being terrible drivers

I have a friend that is an Allstate insurance actuary. Those are the people that crunch the numbers and determine the probibilities for every possible segment of the population and the likelihood of accidents and death. I just talked to him about this last night...
Female drivers under 25 y/o are in slightly fewer accidents than their male counterparts. The difference is the type of accidents. The females under 25 tend to be in low speed rear-enders and fender benders. People are generally not hurt or only slightly hurt - so mostly property damage. The males under 25 are in accidents that involve a lot more speed and often involve losing control of the car. This often means human injuries - which cost A LOT more to "fix" than a car (if the driver and others involved in the accident survive).
The insurance actuaries continually find that once drivers get to be 25 y/o or even more so at 30 y/o, they generally become more responsible as they often own homes, get married, have kids, etc.
As for the $4,700 in auto insurance...if you drive something more reasonable that cuts that in half and then you invest just that $2,400 on an annual basis in a mutual fund getting 'average' returns, in 44 years when you turn 65 years old, you would have... $1,014,385!!! Now that sounds really ignorant.

The OP can't be serious....
IF you know anything about cars, you will know that it's apples vs oranges when comparing the 7 series and the TL.
Personally, my TL-s will be the last Acura car I will ever buy. I rather buy a Honda then Acura. The material in my TL is so cheap. Plastic everywhere which causes a lot of rattles and squeaks.

^ You obviously also don't know a lot about cars.... I've driven most luxury cars, bmw, infiniti, lexuses and benz.... Acura is way above in interior quality than infiniti and bmw. Lexus is my fav, benz is 2nd, and this is also my last honda, period. I'm going back to German, their technology packages are by far superior.

both cars are crazy! i have a 08-S. but thats my preference. Honda/Acura loyal. but you can't go wrong with either or. factor the pros and cons. With a New Acura its brand new. Any Used car you may be worried of the previous owner, and how they maintained a used veh. but at the end of the day, NONE of us are driving the vehicle your going to buy so just go with your gut and stick with it.
but if i was in your situation. i'd pick a brand new TL-S then a used BMW. if i'm going to fork $20,000 roughly on a downpayment i'd rather go with brand new. remember BMW in another 4 years from now is going to be depreciated a lot more aswell. but if u decided to run either or to the ground then NEVERMIND!
good luck with the sale of any of the 2 u choose.

The 7 series is the worst non-British used car investment ever. If its not a CPO car then you will unquestionably regret ever buying one, I promise. There is a reason those things' resale values drop like a missile after four years.
Get the TL and have many worry free years of not taking your car to the shop every month for four figure repairs and/or maintenance.
As to your opening question, I have an 08 TLS and used to have an 03 TLS and an 01 TL years ago. Basically I think the car does everything just a little better. I like the interior a lot more, better seats, nicer materials, better design, no hideous black fake wood. I'm not a fan of the 08 TLS wheels personally. I also don't care for the flimsy switchblade key. Other than that, the car is awesome. Reasonably quick, nice handling, good mileage considering the weight and HP, and will hold its value better than anything it competes with. That's how I measure how good a car is.
