2007 Type S Questions
I have read a lot of these posts and now I am starting to get confused on what I have read. With all the recent posts about transmission problems, I think I read somewhere that the Type S have stronger transmissions than the non
Type S....is that true?
My baby has only 46 k miles on her, what should I do to try and preserve the transmission?
Any other advice on the car in general?. I have only had it for less than 2 weeks. I love this car and will mostly drive it conservatively, but every so often I love to really put my foot into it and hang on. I live in the mountains and I know I will go through tires and brakes....just one of the trade offs of driving cars in the mountains.
Great Car and I want it to last for some time.

ok lets me clear thing up for you.
07-08 TL use modify version of RL AT regardless of base or Type S, ONLY Type S receive a front mount ATF cooler as bonus.
04-06 using a AT that has better reliability than 2nd gen TL AT.
I would recommend you replace most of the fluid on your car like brake fluid, 3x3 ATF and replace the 3rd & 4th pressure switch, oil change, power steering fluid, etc.... Other than that TL is quite a solid car all around, if your car is proper maint then its ok to drive it hard some time. I never heard any one has to rebuilt AT in Type S or 07-08 (if maint properly) and even some with the portion that does need replace/rebuilt their AT do to either neglect or over abuse the car if not the problem already existed at time of purchase or prior.
welcome to the site, you can register your color here https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/tl-owners-please-chime-855960/ thnx.

I have an 08 Base...no issues with the AT, 58K miles, changed ATF as recommended at 30K. But then again I'm old, and don't get "on it" all that often. I too love this car and want it to last. My only issue was the hands free link module. Fixed that myself after getting a new one from oemacuraparts.com.
