2007 TL Type-S (Brakes)
Hi
I was wondering if any of you had this problem.
When I start braking typically for a few seconds (slight to medium pressure) I get a high pitched sound coming from my front brakes it goes away but I assume thats because the brakes are heating up.
I had the dealer take a look and they told me that its common on TLs that have the Brembo brakes. The pads had plenty of life left, all the dealer did was lube and clean the brakes but it ends up coming back and its quiet loud.
I have seen people turn and look as I have come to a stop sign.
Wondering if any of you have hear or have this problem and if so are there any solutions or is this just something I have to live with?
Thanks!

Burning Brakes
no thats not normal. my brakes make noise now when im braking but thats because the pads need replacing.
however, about 1 second before i stop, the brakes make a grinding noise as the car comes to a complete stop. i think thats normal.

if its a squeek... and you have plenty of life left it could just be debris on the pads
try a few 60 to 0 stops without activating abs that should clear that problem up

Loving my 08 TLS!
Is it a high pitch or like buzzing noise that you can hear in the cabin when you brake? I had this problem before every time I brake and it was the rotors. The dealer resurface the rotors and the noise went away.

How many miles do you have? I had the same problem and the pads looked great on the outer pad...but when I changed to the ceramic pads the inside OEM brembo pad was almost gone completely. Changed them out..added a nice coating of CRC graphite caliper grease upon install and voila...no noise!
Try the easiest cheap method first though...hard braking from 45 to 0 a few times to clean any debris off. I believe it's called bedding the pads.

My dealership measures my brakes and they told me I still have 3mm left on my pads, which will give me 3k to 5k depending on my driving conditions. They do make like a squeaky noise, but it is not coming from the pads, it is coming from the metal bar on the calipers, right by the pads, this advices the owner that the pads are running low, try to pull them up, that way they are not set too low and make a noise.

It never squeaked with the oem brembo pads. When u hear/feel the a grinding noise when u brake, that means its almost times to change out pads..I mean IT IS time to change out the pads........
