2007 TL Type S 6mt only 14,000 miles. What to pay for it?
Guys I have been looking for a Type S 6mt and didnt realize what a pain it is to find a clean 6mt. Anyway I came across a 14,000 original mile 2007 black with black/taupe interior from the original southern private owners. They say its perfect never any paint work, no damage or blemishes anywhere and no issues with the car. Original floor mats still in wrapper (they use the rubber mats all the time and has the trunk mat too). The problem is I dont know what to pay for the car I have seen dealers list super low mileage cars at almost 30K around here and even those were still 20+K mileage cars. This one has 14K!!!! I think I can get it for 25K what do you guys think? Its hard because KBB and NADA arent super realistic since the 6mt generally goes for more than the autos in real world, and the insane low mileage doesnt really show on there either.
Looking for some opinions.
Thanks,
James

Yes its a private owner out of state sale and to answer your question yes I would have to still pay IL state sales tax. The good news is that buying private party is for sure cheaper than buying from a dealer who charges whatever sales tax is right now plus all the fees and crap. So bad news yes you still have to pay taxes at the DMV when you register it, but its still a lot cheaper than buying from a dealer.
Alright thanks guys I basically just wanted to hear that it was a great deal!
I will see what I can do.

James, best of luck on this purchase. Where are you in this deal with the owners? Have they told you what they want for the Type S?
Heck, even I'm excited for you!

Alright thanks for all the input guys so it sounds like thats a good deal. I will get on it and see if I can make it happen. I will post an update at some point today after I get ahold of the owner again and tell him to consider the car sold. Wish me luck :-)

Well it looks like im doing it so far everything is going good to proceed with the purchase. I am taking out a loan on the car but I saw someone mention PenFed before claiming they have 2.99%. So I checked it out and sure enough I got approved on the spot at 2.99 for whatever amount I wanted. They are just waiting for a copy of the title from the seller and the check is going to be overnighted.
They agreed to my price of $25,000 so considering that is the lowest mileage Type S I have seen period, I think its a good deal. The closest Type S with a 6MT is 08 with 19,000 miles and the dealer wont budge from $29,999 plus almost 2 grand for taxes and dealer fees!!!! geeezus
I guess I wont be 100% satisfied until I see the car in person thats my only concern because I am very picky about my cars. I tried telling the guy this and said if I get off this airplane and find out there is a few dings, or rims are all curbed up im gonna be fuming (especially since I only have a one way plane ticket). He told me him and his wife are both very honest people and he said he thinks I will be very pleased with this car. So im going to keep my fingers crossed that when I get down to Jacksonville this car is basically new condition. Autocheck verified what the guy told me that they are original owners and no issues shown on that.
So as of the near future I will be the owner of a 14,000 mile 07 6mt Type S

I can tell you that I paid $32K OTD TTL and all for my 2007 KBP Type-S in September of 2008.
$25K is good. Assuming your tax rate at 6.5%, you're looking at another $1625 for taxes. Title and license another $200 or so.
Enjoy the car. With 14K on the clock it's still going to smell new (assuming they were non-smokers).

I just got home from work and the sellers did exactly what I asked them to and then some. I asked if they could send detailed pictures of every inch of the car...Sure enough they did infact they sent 110 pictures lol. This thing looks AMAZING!! I know pictures and real life are two different things especially when it comes to cars, but from the photos the car basically looks new. The seats look like they have never even been sat in, I cant find a single spec of dirt on the carpet, every rim is 100% curb rash free, the original tires have never been removed from the rims (as the original Honda wheel weights are still there), the brake rotors and drums are rust free and shows that its obviously never seen a winter. Anyway, enough rambling as you can tell im excited.
Here is a couple teaser pics (reduced in size obviously) that I figured I would post up to show how clean it is and how detailed he got when it came to taking pictures. These are 4 pictures of 110 total!

Congrats! The car has been in the Trader for a few months now. The original asking price probably scared people away but good to hear they were willing to come down quite a bit. It looks flawless.

Thanks for all the kind words guys it really helps with such a big purchase. Well the deal is sealed I have the money and just purchased my plane ticket to fly down to pick it up on Tuesday the 29th. We are just finishing up the final details now so I am very excited and it sounds like they are good people. To ensure this was the one I wanted I went and looked at a 07 6spd that just popped up for sale at a local Jaguar dealership. Carfax said 1 owner no accidents so I have to go check it out since it was local. Got there and the car ok but certainly wasnt amazing condition. It drove good but there was scuffs on the back bumper, each rim had curbrash almost all the way around, 2 very minor dings on left side, front bumper was pitted a lot most likely from lots of highway driving, and the passenger seatback was busted off (kinda weird). It has 54,000 miles and they were not flexible on price at $23,000.
So it was a no brainer to me for only 2 grand more I get a car with 40,000 less miles, still under warranty, amazing condition and from a non-winter climate...cant go wrong.
:-)
Its nice to almost be back into a TL-S

Congrats! I think I missed it, what state is the TL located in? You'll have a fun drive back up to Illinois. Why'd you sell your first TL-S? I bet you didn't think you'd miss it so much, eh.
