asking this kind of question on an acura forum will typically yield such answers as:
- it's an upgrade, congrats!
- the 328i doesn't age well compared to the 3G TL
- welcome to acurazine! post some pictures!
i guarantee you that if you posted this same thing on e90post, you'll get the opposite:
- why would you downgrade from german engineering!?
- the 3G TL is just a gussied up accord, why did you trade!?
- it was nice knowing you on forums!![Wave](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/wave.gif)
that being said...

Sounds like your kinda trippen on this straight trade. The TL musta been real nice
too make this deal. Their both nice cars, he got a lower mileage car and you got a
higher mileage car. For what it's worth forget about, just have fun with the TL.

It's all dependent on you. Do you think it was a good trade?
Does the TL fit your needs better than your BMW did?
If it does, then yes!![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Welcome. I'd call it a good trade, not knowing what private party value is for either. A 328i just doesn't do it for me, I've always viewed it as a BMW for the sake of having the emblem. Like mentioned above, a 335i starts to get interesting though.

And as far as the TL being more powerful, well, the TL is 258 hp and the 328i is 230, but it weighs 240 lbs less than the TL. It's pretty much a wash there.
OP, I would've been looking to get a few thousand dollars along with the TL, but what's done is done. It's a great car, but if it's a 5AT, start reading up on pressure switches and fluid changes and stay ahead of the 8 ball. Mileage is low. You should get many years out of it.

Thanks guy, i really appreciate the opinions. The car is great! It is a 5AT, and i am satisfied with it, i was having thoughts if i was wrong about the trade but now that i look at it, i gave up a small light blue small box that should only come in 2 doors 230 hp for a more bigger luxurious and faster 270hp car that look really good gray. So thanks guys. I will get pictures up around Saturday or Sunday!

If this were an e46 328i, I would agree. But the e90 328i has been rated well above average in reliability. The early 335's had their issues with fuel pumps going bad, but that was rectified. 328's have been very solid. When I see all the transmission failures on 5AT 04-05' TL's, I'd be leery.

Thanks, my cousin had a 335i, sold it because of the high cost maintenance.

Plus, the N54 engine was brand new and having a lot of problems with the HPFP and in some cases the twin turbos. Living 2.5 hours from a BMW dealer really pushed me toward my TL, and I'm really happy about how it worked out.

And look at it this way - now you have a spare tire! Honestly, that was one of the reasons I didn't go with a 335. No spare tire, and to get a kit from Bavarian Autosport was going to take up about 1/4 of the trunk space, and the trunk in the 3 series is not large by any means already.
