2007 Acura TL tips thread

Got a used 2007 Acura TL just yesterday! It's winter out here in toronto, but I hope to maybe do some stuff in the spring/summer, I'm also new to Acurazine too, I have came here many times to see other people's TL's, but well I got myself one now! Im pretty happy

Auto or Manuel? And the vendor directory is a great place to look for aftermarket parts. Personal preference where do you want to be

My TL is an auto, I hope to get an aspec kit and aspec rims, also achieve a deeper exaust note, and probably get a CAI.

Welcome and congrats!

The 3G Garage has TONS of information regarding maintenance and modification, check out the link below!

https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...ewbies-553554/

I'm glad you're considering the A-Spec kit. As for a CAI, I recommend saving a little more and getting a j-pipe. Support our vendors by purchasing one from vendors such as HeelToe Automotive or Excelerate Performance.

Well if its an 07 and he didn't say anything about it being a Type S, then its auto...unlike the 04-06 years, you cannot get the base 07-08 cars in manual.

Thanks CL! I've seen you on YouTube man love your TL! And Yeah I did have the idea in mind of getting a J-pipe which is best? RV6, ATLP, XLR8? I understand they each have their perks but I don't know specifically.

Your moonroof isn't closed all the way.

A CAI wouldn't provide any performance upgrades, only sound. The stock intake is already very good in terms of performance.

Hi there, we actually did a test of the j-pipes mentioned and posted our results here. The XLR8 and ATLP V2-R are good for midrange, and the ATLP V2 is great for max gains: ATLP, XLR8, and RV6 J-pipes tested together. ATLP V2-R debut! - HeelToe Automotive

Yeah I realized I didn't close it properly haha. Do you really get no gains? I do want the more throaty sound though.

Thank you sir

I've had the ATLP V2 j-pipe combined with the ATLP Race Pipe and non-resonated ATLP catback for 3 years with no issues whatsoever. The best thing for you to do is go to each of our vendor's websites and compare what they offer. Some offer the 3rd cat delete built in which is nice.

Take your time and do your research! There are tons of threads about j-pipes

It'll give you some noise but that's about it. Not work $200-300 IMO. I bought one when I first got my car but actually put the stock intake back on about 2 years ago.

Most of all of the aftermarket exhausts are great! but if you are on a budget and want a nice exhaust sound I would go with a stage 3 exhaust i believe, It just replaces the stock resonator with a smaller dynomax one and removes the mid muffler

I agree, not worth. If all you want is noise, try just taking off the resonator box or make a "poor man's CAI"

I guess I'll just save myself the $300 and keep the stock intake on.

I'm thinking of getting the dynomax res. and doing the mid-muffler delete, and i'll probably also install the ATLP v2 j-pipe. I want it to sound nice, not too loud, not raspy, but deep

I sort of want to change the look of the tails, I like the 07/08 tails waaaaay better than 04-06. I also like the look of type-s tails, I'm thinking of either tinting the normal tail lights or buying these smoked ones on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-2008-ACURA-TL-SMOKE-TAIL-Type-S-AMBER-RED-FRONT-REAR-SIDE-MARKER-LIGHT-/151541832671?fits=Make%3AAcura%7CModel%3ATL

Congrats, I'm nearby in Mississauga and just got one as well, a 06 6 MT. Been pretty fun so far. How much you get it for if you don't mind me asking, just to compare...

Got mine for 6+ tax, 200,000km.
Only thing I got in mind are getting the calipers powder coated red with Brembo decals on the front, blacking out the wheels and a shift knob.

with that price I would say Bruce does a better job, the only down side is you won't have tail light for awhile.

Thanks, nice to hear you live in Mississauga, and your TL looks great! But yeah, I actually got the car from Mississauga, it was 11k but was able to get it for 9k, it has 159,000km on it, it came with fairly new winters and TL floor mats as well, I think it was a pretty good deal.
I'm planning on getting ASPEC rims or maybe something else idk, I like concave, and either powder coating em or making them satin black. Maybe you should get the Acura branded brembo's that the type-s have. they're black, pretty nice. I want those or Project Mu's, but if anything i'll probably paint my calipers black.

I honestly like the sound of the TL on the right(look at tail lights to know which one is revving) I also like the look of it with the Project Mu's and the roof spoiler, I don't know which rims those are but I really like them if anyone can identify them. Does anyone know how to achieve this kind of exhaust tone?
