2004 TL Cabin Air Filter
Behind the glove box of a 04 Tl there is a solid piece of plastic that needs to be cut to expose the cabin air filter. I can tell by looking under the dash with a mirror that the filter runs horizontal, but I don't know where to cut the plastic. Does anyone have a shop manual that shows the pic's on how to cut this out.

Don't know about the plastic piece, but here's some threads on how to change the filter.

when you remove the glove box, there is a solid piece thats part of the dash thats blocking the view of the filter door. Are you saying that the bottom part of the dash just pulls off?

Could someone give a better explanation on how to remove it safely without breaking anything?
Thanks!

it takes about 5 minutes to get access
remove the entire glove box, and you'll see this
glow box is held in by 2 screws, 2 push clips that are near the latch. remove these 4 things, and just pull it out
the 2 arrows pointing down are the airflow direction, and behind that is the filter
filter and tray removed
filter in the tray

Changing this cabin air filter is quite easy and can be done in about 15 minutes. However, failure to remove the push clips properly can result in breaking the plastic pieces off the dash like I did. I didn't realize that you have to pull out the center/middle part of the clip in order to remove it. I didn't do this right and snapped off the piece....
I circled the location in red where the clip attaches to the dash. There is another one on the other side.

All of ATP's cabin filters are charcoal activated. Bosch also has one but it is about $25 more then ATP. If you want to know more about difference between Particulate (stock and most aftermakets) and the charcoal activated (atp, bosch) you can go to http://www.boschusa.com/AutoParts/Filters/ and they have explained it...
Basically the only difference is that the charcoal activated filter prevents odors.(3 layer design for the particulate filter whereas a 5 layer design for the charcoal activated)
you can buy it from: http://www.rockauto.com/ for $13.78
ATP Part # HA5
Category: Cabin Air Filter
Item Price: $13.78

Can someone else comment on this part. Is it in or out?
I'm about to go out and change my filter.
Thanks!

it's a push pin
the way it works is you push in the center of the clip which releases it, then you can remove the clip
afterwards when you want to put the clip back in, you push the center peice from the back to "reset it" put the clip back in the car, and push the center pin to lock it in place.
i've done it hundreds of times, and never have i broken them.
go in your car and give it a try, should take you about 2 seconds to remove both of them

OK, I went out to try and replace the filter today and had a problem getting the glove box stops out?
Can anyone tell me how they are supposed to be removed safely?
I don't want to break anything.
Thanks!

Nice, they had the brake power booster for my 97 Jeep for $62.79 + 30 core! I was expecting to pay over $100.
