2004 Recall

I do not see anything in the 2004 thread regarding the recall.

I have ahd my car less than a year, and they say there is transmission issuesm but NOT to bring it in until they tell me to make sure that it is done in phases.

has anyone had problems.. Has anyone needed a new transmission?

Is everyone affected by this?

Mike

Yes. We did lots of discussion a month ago.

Well, I have listed a few info over "Garage", you may take a look there.

Most of dealers would service your car and add the oil jet kit for you without a letter. So far, it seems only some Canadian 04TLers have recieved the recall letter, and non of our members in States get it.

Long time no see. It's bee 3 months.

Here are two bonus threads created by another early participant.

Are people getting their letters? They told me mid july for both my cars - I got nothing so far.

Are they back-logged or something?

My VIN# is 80xx and I have not received my letter as yet. I called my dealer and they are not willing to do anything until I receive the letter from Acura. ACS told me that the letter should be mailed out to me end of this month....

My local dealer has a severe service backorder now because of all the recalls coming in. It takes 2 weeks to get an appointment for any sort of service. A service writer told me they are ordering 8-10 transmissions a week for recalled Acura's. So I can see why they wouldn't want to see the car until your letter comes in.

Just be careful of this... other vehicle forums will put the cross forum link against us... "see, 04TL has replaced lots of trannies weekly..." This is 3G forum, please specify... Thnx.

Well, I guess you're saying "the oil jet kits", right?

No, they were talking about whole new (rebuilt) trannys, probably for the 99-03's.

With my 04TL they said they would just put in the oil jet kit automatically. That is with 13k miles on it.

I've had my seat memory module replaced and my 4 tires replaced. Both of these were recall issues. I've received nothing on the transmission recall.

What you meant "...I've received nothing on the transmission recall."?

I'm sorry if saying too much here...

If you're the early build 5AT 04TL and VIN# is lower than 014224, your car could be on the recall list and is supposed to get the recall letter from Acura "soon". Some dealers are willing to help you inspect and install the necessary kit for you without any recall letter, their computer system will tell if your car is in the range.

Otherwise, you have to wait for that damn letter to get your car checked and fixed.

The fix isnt the problem.

According to Acuras website, if it has less than 13,000 or so miles, which mine does not anymore, they put a piece in.

If it has MORE they inspect for discoloration. If there is none, they put this part in.. However, if there IS discoloration, they have to replace the transmission altogether.

Did anyone have this happen yet.

I have an early build 04

I got a letter from Acura - the problem affects transmissions from 2000 to 2004. I had my transmission changed in my 2003 TL. I'm taking my 04 TL in on Monday. Mine has more than 13000 miles so it'll be interesting to see what gives - I doubt I need a new tranny...

paddiwakk,

When I brought my car in for the oil jet kit, mine had the slightly more mileage than yours. Well, they did the simple inspection and directly installed the kit for me, it took approximately an hour.

You could be the first one getting that letter here... haha...

Thanks rets! I meant that I didn't receive a recall letter. My dealer is good, I had the other 2 issues taken care of by merely calling and making a same day appointment.
