Definitely NOT true. My 2002 TL-P's window sticker (built in 11/01) says: TRANSMISSION: JAPAN. I know, I kept it. Perhaps someone with a 2003 who kept their window sticker can tell us whether their sticker says the same.

Acura admitted there was a problem with the transmission when they extended the transmission warranty on the previous generation of the TL as well as the CL. They knew there was a higher than normal rate of failure, so I highly doubt that they would do nothing to fix it.

BTW, the transmission in my 01CL-S was trouble free during the 51k miles I had it.

Given the drive by wire the TL has, I'd guess it would be easier on transmissions. Even under WOT the shifts are very smooth.

Well that looks familar. Because the guy I know that has also told me about the trannys has been a mechanic for years. And he drives a boosted Maxima and works for a Acura dealer. I trust what he says. My tranny went out in my CL-S after 8-9k of miles, had the 2nd one installed, and it was dieing even sooner. I got rid of the car. But he isn't lieing guys.
