18x8.5 with 45 offset???????

Well I have been looking for rims for my new ride that should be getting here in two weeks. The thing is that all the rims I like come in 18x8.5 with a 45 offset. Will that half-inch make a difference? Will this rim fit? Or should I go with the 18x7.5 with a 45 offset.

I was told that the stock offset was 45mm and anything down to 31mm would work (which pushed the wheels out) so a wider rim, 8.5 with only a 45mm offset should be comparable on the outside but rubbing on the inside would be the concern. You need to talk with someone who knows like the guys at tires.com, they have done ll the measurements and that is where I got my info.

What wheels are you looking at to put on the new TL? Photos if you can.

IMPORTANT!! Now you need to look at the tire you are going to mount, most have a range of rim widths to use, with minimum and maxim rim widths specified.

I believe for the 235/40-18 tire that is recomended by Acura, the minimum rim width is 8" with 8.5" prefered. You may want to contact the tire dealer before you buy the rims.

Having a width too small puts excessive stress on the sidewall and can create handling issues as the rubber buldges over the wheel, creating excessive sidewall flex (this would lead to poor performance and the stock 17" would be better.

Well, I was going to go with the smaller tire too. But I decided not to go smaller. I guess I will try and call some people and find out what the 411 is on this.

I do not remember where, but I thought someone said the OEM 18" wheels were/are 18x8.5.

The OEM 17" wheels are 8" wide, the 18's probably are too.
