158k on Acura TL 2005 with Nav--- what do you think ?

No problems and all the services done and I love the car.

I would like to sell it off now as I want to buy a 2009.

how much do you think I can sell it off for ? KBB says more $11K

Edmunds put it's at $15k, private party sale.

The problem you are going to have is the mileage. Not many people are going to be in the market for a car with 158k miles on it, especially if it costs well over $10k.

If you are buying a 2009, you might want to see what the Acura dealer will give you for it as a trade first, because the private market for a car with that many miles is probably going to be very slim.

With that mileage, you may be better off trading in. You won't get as much for it of course, but when you do trade in, you'll save on the taxes of your trade-in value on your 09. When I got my 08, I traded in my 00 which had 170,000kms and ended up getting 7G on the trade in. I ended up saving a ton on taxes on got the 08 for a smoking deal

nearly 160K on a car that is 5-6 years old? I would not pay anywhere near 11K for it. A reasonable expectation should be $5-7K. There is a glut of used cars on the market and no one will pay $11-15K for a car with that kind of milage. Drive it until it isn't worth fixing anymore

I tried for a trade in and Dealer was talking 9K, But I was looking for anything above 10k. I think Banks wont be giving loans for cars more than 100k.

I'd take the 9k from the dealer.

You aren't going to get more than that on a private sale, nobody is going to pay that kind of money for a car with that many miles on it.

9k is pretty good trade-in value.. take it but make sure the numbers are right on the buy, sometimes they'll lure you in a on a good trade but inflate the new car price..

9K sounds great to me considering the miles. I traded an 01 3.2 CL-S with 88K miles in 2006 for my TL and only got $9500 trade at the time. That sounds like a good deal to me.

They offered you 9k and you didn't immediately accept their offer?!? I think you should go back there and jump on that offer because quite honestly I'm surprised they even offered you that much. 158k miles is A LOT of miles. I know our TLs are capable of going many many more miles but I still think they are giving you one hell of a deal.

At 40k mi/yr, I see money pit. Just keep it and save $$.

Now, if money is no concern, trade it. It just would not sell private for more than 6 or 7k.

9k is really 9700 with taxes saved plus less the headach youll get if you sell to someone and something goes wrong and they end up comming after you..its just not worth private sells in my eyes.

158K on a 2005....

Acura TL 04+ is considered a sport luxury car (for many but for some its standard vehicle). Luxury cars generally run with lower mileage/year (due to the babying owners give them). You just killed the value of your car in three/four years with that kind of mileage.

Perhaps you should consider getting a cheap commuter car and having the new TL as evening/weekend vehicle.

No intelligent car buyer (especially acurazine member) will/should give over 7K for your car (regardless of cosmetic condition). However, thanks to Acura/Honda brand value/04+ TL "appeal"/Relatively new car/general buyer stupidity, you can get more (a how much more depending on how uneducated the buyer is). Don't go less than 8K but offers 9 to 10K you should generally follow up on.

Another option to consider is to sell/trade this one and pickup another similar (04-06 TL) with lot lower mileage (think 60-80K) for not too much over and then just drive that.

But hey if you can afford driving a nice car in this manner then more power to you. If money bountiful then enjoy!
