14 Mpg????
I've had my TL-S for about 3 weeks now, and I LOVE it. I've currently racked up about 1100 miles....and I babied it for the first 900 miles *for the break-in*
I just realized that there is an ave. mpg screen in the MID. I looked at it for the first time today, and it said my ave. mpg was 14?!?! I thought I was filling my gas up quite often, but this seems off....doesnt it?

You're either doing almost all city driving or STEPPING on that gas pedal since the 'babying' period.
The Type-S with that RL engine uses slightly more gas than the regular TL. Something most of the TL-S owners here hardly took into consideration when they bought the car, but many are now with gas prices heading towards Mt. Everest.
One major fuckup on Acura's behalf is not providing an instantaneous MPG guage so people could adjust their driving habits for maximum mileage as they drive. The Nav Trip Computer in the Accord has one. We TL buyers pay $$$$ more, and therefore have every right to expect the same or better functionality, NOT LESS!

Ever since I put on new 16.5# 18" Volks and RE050A 245/40/18" tires, which weight LESS then stock, and 1mm different offset from stock, my gas mileage has gone down quite a bit on the highway??????????????? AND the car feels slower????????????? I don't understand any of this, makes NO SENSE. WHY? Super light wheels, total weight of tire/wheel is lighter, and offset is the same. ??? WTF WTF WTF

I just looked up the exact dimensions again. Stock 235/45/17 is 25.6" high, 9.6" wide, 814 turns per mile. The new 245/40/18 is 25.7" high, 9.8" wide, 811 turns per mile. Thats nothing. Considering the new package is 6# lighter at each corner.

Most likely, it's the increase in tire width. The more rubber on the road = more rolling resistance / friction. I experienced this same thing the 1st time I went up a tire size in width. I lost about 2 ~ 4 MPG depending on my driving habits.

I do mostly city driving. I live in the NYC area, and drive mostly in and out of the city...
However, I went up to the Catskill Mountains for the long weekend, and did a LOT of freeway driving.
The mpg went up to 16....

The avg MPG indicator in the MID does not fully cut it nowadays. Acura has NO EXCUSE WHATSOEVER for not providing us with a true instantaneous MPG guage, especially considering what's been going on with gas prices. I'm shocked they didn't wake up and put it in the '07, and I'm yet to see any late model BMW that doesn't have one.
