damn

Where were u a month ago..I was selling the same car for a couple grand less.
With only 118000. Oh well. Anyway--Id have to see clearer pictures of the car and a clean one owner carfax. Also make sure the 105k service was done or you definitely dont want it. Check the price against auto trader. You could probably chew them down to 9500.

If the 105K service has been performed then that wouldn't bother me, for a bit less than they are asking. Of course, I come from a brand of cars that last much longer, but heck, I have 216K on my Ford PU, so a stinking Acura/Honda ought to be able to do that......
You have to do "what you have to do" to get a 6sp sometimes.........

I just bought an 05 w/ 112k miles. I made sure it had the 105k mile service done before I bought, but the car rides like a brand new car. It's really amazing the condition of the car given the miles. Plus it's a Honda, so it's just getting broken in! In my opinion, if the car has had the service, is clean and drives well, I wouldn't hesitate buying one of these cars with "higher" mileage. Good luck!

Also, this is my first post on the forum!

^ Welcome!

As long as the maintenance records check out, I don't see a problem. Just give it a thorough once-over yourself, test drive it as much as you can, and get a reputable shop to look at it... it should be fine.

Have you considered looking private party? You could probably save a few Gs.

What he said. I just got an '04 M6 last week with 117k. If it weren't for the odometer you would probably only guess the car has 40k on it. Also my first post haha.

KBB says the dealer value is 11,550 so I say offer 10k if 105k service has been done. It's not like you have to worry about tranny issues. So thats good. The car looks good too.

Im going to go check it out and see whats been done and the condition of the car. Yes, I do agree that 11k is a bit much for that kind of miles. Im going to take parasufer's advice and offer 10k if all is good. I wouldnt mind going private party too as the price will be less but I need the finacing of a dealer. Thanks alot for the input guys.

I have an 05 tl 6speed and it has 127,000 on it. I did have it's 105,000 service done on it and it drives like new. I got it with 32,000 on it and outside of the left side rear caliper locking up on it I haven't had another thing go wrong. I would talk them down and just hope the past owner didn't beat the crap out of it. It is the 6speed so it's hard to stay off the gas.

I'd say go for another car. I dont look at anything w/ more than 50k on the odometer. AND I usually get rid of what I have at around 80 to 90k.

I know hondas/acura are suppose to last awhile, but i change vehicles like most people change socks.....

It's perfectly okay to, personally, be weary of "higher mileage" cars.. or have the ability to switch cars as often as you please. I'm not saying that this guy is in a lesser financial situation. I'm just saying it's okay to be more open minded to cars with more mileage for less money. That being said, just because this car doesn't meet the "new enough" criteria for some, that doesn't make this specific car something that should just be thrown to the wayside and given no further thought. The mileage doesn't make it a bad car if it has been taken care of and maintained properly. Especially since it's a Honda. It could have been taken care of very well and drive like a car with 50k miles, or it could turn out to be a complete shit box when you drive it and look at it. Either way, it's still worth checking out. That's my .02!

It has 22k/yr on it. I doubt seriously it drove all that in the city delivering pizza's. Most of that mileage was in its sweet spot on the freeway. Keep us posted when you go see the car. Take vid of exterior/interior with your phone so it allows us to check out the car too.

Yep, I'm on the same boat. No way I can keep changing a car at 90k! That would be nice, someday...

I've been browsing some 6mts around 75k. They are mostly in the 12-13k range at that mileage, and I've seen 100k mile manuals for 10.5k. Most of the time there will always be a better deal, worked for me and my volvo. Reminds me of my girlfriends dad...He had his heart of a CTS, so as soon as he got the money, he wanted it right then and there. Ended up with an freaking green cadillac... could have waited another month or two for a silver one for the same price..

All in all I wouldn't take this one.

Yeah I know what you mean, got to have patience when in the market for a car. Not very good though if you normally dont have a lot of patience, like me

Nice.

Hey guys sorry I haven't responded for a while. Wasn't able to check the car out till now due to some financial problems. Just got back from checking it out. All in all I gotta say that I like the car, it sounds great, transmission shifts smooth, no vibrations. The only things bad are the driver seat has some wear on it, no ripping, or tear but just some wrinkles (Love the perforated leather though). The Shift knob has some signs of wear on it, and there is also a small hole of about 5mm diameter on the shift boot. The rest of the interior is great along with the exterior and paint. Also asked the dealer about the 105k service and he said he was unaware of the cars service history.

In short:
-6sp 04 tl
-135k miles
-$10,999
-Great exterior, interior ok besides signs of wear on the shifter.
-dont know if 105k service been done.

Thanks for reading my summary.
I'm curious as to what you guys think.

Yay or Nay

not for that price esp if the service history isnt known ... the car is coming up on 7 years old so timing belt will run you about a grand. if u can have them do the timing belt and replace the boot so u dont have a tear in it for 10k maybe then it would be a decent deal

Some seat wrinkling of the leather is to be expected, as is the scuffed up shifter. My shifter looks like it has been dragged behind the car.
Without knowledge of the 105K mile service, it can only be assumed that it hasn't been completed. Not sure if an Acura dealer could look at their system and see if it was completed at an Acura dealership. Mercedes wouldn't look up car histories without proof of ownership. Not sure if Acura has a similar policy.....
And if car is still there after almost 2 months, then I certainly wouldn't plop down close to asking price!

I would recommend paying no more than $8-8.5 K for the car. You will have to do the 105 k service as the dealer has no idea if it's been done or not. You need to realize that this car will be a tough sell for the dealership because of the high miles. Their only option if it doesn't sell will be to sell it at auction or to a wholesaler for a lot less. I would personally low ball them. The worse that happens is that you leave without the car. There will be no warranty on the car either, so the dealer should realize you're taking somewhat of a risk by purchasing a car with such high mileage. In a tough economy, you might be surprised how much they will flex for you. If not, they're still stuck with the car.

Good luck with your decision

Thanks for the input guys. I actually really like the body of the car and everything but I'm just a little worried about the high millage engine. I've decided against paying 10999k for it though. As there is another 04 Tl going for around 10k with ~80k on it, only thing is its an auto Going back and see if I can get the car for less though otherwise I'm walking off.

i would offer 8-8.5k for it with an unknown 105kmi service history... if you can get it for 8k... do the timing belt service and get everything checked for under 10k, you will have a great car...

i wouldn't let that mileage scare me... if you test drove it and it drove nice, these engines can last forever... and with a 6MT, you don't have the fear of the AT crapping out on u... the other AT with 80k has a better chance of crapping out on you... sadly...

Check the service records if you can. It will probably require more maintenance but will continue to run.

honestly that is a good question.......my is ...i purchased a 96 TL with 150K on it from a dealer for 5K the car was SUPER CLEAN.....back in 2002 i believe and i never had any issues what so ever .............so you should really go with your gut ....i also bought a 06 TL with 25K and by 50K was having alot of issues .............so i would say look the car over ...and if your happy with everything go for it ....if you have to second guess on anything......then keep looking.............good luck ...

I say no. I bought my '04 SSM w/ nav and everything working, etc for $10,000. It had 100K miles, new tires (though a little noisy..damn Falkens). I'd say finance a little bit and drop that mileage if half, or find something else b/c that's a little pricey. I'd only pay about 8 for that

Ok thanks guys.
One question. Is there anyway I can know for sure the the timing belt was changed? I'm going to try and contact an Acura dealer and see if they have any records available like jimmyl said.
