133 Mph....

Coming back from San Francisco on 505 late Sunday w/ noone around except a guy on a bike, I hit 133 and he blew by me..took a while to get there, felt a little sluggish. But the car felt solid and real smooth...definitely an adrenaline rush

Don't know that I would do it again unless on a track...but, it was pretty cool

Was thinking of pushing my car to it's limits on the way to Cali next month.

But only if the I-10 is clear......and I'm on the AZ side of the border. CHP are freakin' animals when it comes to catching speeders.

Prison no good for me!

When you take 505 it gets to Thunderhill Raceway www.thunderhill.com
Track days with pro driver riding shotgun in your car- $250
Experience full throttle max braking fun on 3 miles of 35 foot wide reasonably smooth asphalt.
Flaggers, tow and rescue at track just like real races

It never hurts to run some Seafoam thru the tank and intake
Will clean the injectors and valves and piston tops for better combustion

When you're flooring the car, it really feels like it pulls hard as hell through 2nd and 3rd, but once you get to 4th gear, it dulls out a LOT....atleast mine does. 4th gear seems to have some pull around down, but not when you're pushing it. Anyone else notice this?

I opened it up on the 10 last April on my way to Phoenix. There are some areas where its pretty clear and no cops can hide.

Like a month ago, on my way to San Diego from LA, I hit a little bit over 150 mph. Yes, the 4th gear does feel very weak compare to 2nd and 3rd, it takes awhile for the car to reach the vtec range, , , Once the RPM hits 4500<(Vtec range I guess), it pulls harder for sure. I'm pretty satisfied with the car, ,

Oh, btw, I have 5AT with AEM, pulley, and resonator.

it depends for me...sometimes it dulls out for a rpm or two and kicks up and sometimes it doesn't. When in sport shift it depends on how far you take it to the redline. Just gotta learn your car and time it because it takes about a second before it actually shifts. You can see mine dulls out after a hard 3rd gear pull in this vid and slowly starts to pick back up. This was the day i installed my intake so the ECU was still learning.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siTDa...elated&search=

4th gear goes on for days though...its nice once you get into the higher rpms

Even on 17's it never really pulled that hard....plus, the 19's sit at the same height as the 17's w/ tires and they weigh 23lbs so it shouldn't matter that much

Yeah the A/T TLs have an awful fourth gear, if it only was a bit shorter, or if the base TL was 3.5L it would've been so much better.

Wow!! That looks real cool!! I may go to the June 14th driving school. Have you gone through the school? How was it? Since I have the TEIN suspension, I'm wondering what the best set-up might be. Anyway, thanks for the info.

I've driven the 505 many times and having a radar/laser detector, I have never run into CHP along that stretch (closer to 5) Honestly though, I wasn't even thinking about the fuzz...that would have sucked to get caught doing that speed

That's probably a good (wise) thing...the guy on the bike must have hit 150+, that must be a real rush on a bike...

I don't want to jinx myself on my drive back to Oregon next weekend, but I've also never seen CHP along 505. They are usually swarming on the 5.

Truly unbelievable.....I can't believe that I am sitting here reading about people doing in excess of 130 MPH on a public highway and then BRAGGING about it. Are you clueless or were you just born without a brain ? If you want to wrap yourself around a tree, that's your business. But you are putting other people's lives in danger. And don't give me that "nobody was around" BS....if it's a public highway there will be other cars around eventually.

I don't have a problem with people wanting to push their TL....but go to a damn track and do it will ya ?

Ahh, yeah those planes are sneaky. I try to keep a look out for the eyes in the sky as well. Much more difficult when you are alone. If I'm with a friend I'll usually stick them on cop patrol.

It's amazing to me that it took THIS long for someone to post something like this.

I agree. Doing 130+ on a PUBLIC road is nothing but stupid and horribly irresponsible.

It makes me nervous knowing that this many people think it's 'cool' or 'neat' that they can put more than just their lives at risk. Imagine the feeling of being responsible for killing a family of four just because you wanted to see what your car has on the top-end.

07WDP.....kudos to you for being 23 and realizing how stupid this is. I may be 49 but am hardly a "square"....lol. Even when I was in my teen's and twenty's I wasn't stupid enough to do something that irresponsible.

I think it's great that they want to drive that fast....but they need to do it on a track where they will not put innocent lives in danger.

People want to know why insurance rates keep going up ? They need to look no furthur than the lunkheads that drive like this on public highways.

It's things like these that make me wish that I lived on a deserted island with only my girlfriend, family, and close friends.

Makes me think of the idiots that weave in and out of traffic to just sit at a stop light 100 feet down the road. I like to drive aggresively but I'm trying to protect my investment as well as insure that I don't get into a situation where I would be involved in some sort of accident.

Slow and steady wins the race.

07WDP.....as you indicate, there is a BIG difference between driving aggressively and having some fun and driving stupidly and risking lives.

I just hope some of these people will see the light before their actions cause some family to have to attend the funeral of a loved one.

Sorry I upset so many people by starting this thread...I plan on hitting thunderhill race track on June 14th, sounds like a real good deal $235 for instruction and 5 - 20 minute sessions driving your car around the track...it would be cool to see a bunch of TL's racing at Thuderhill that day Hope to see some of you guys there

This is what people should be doing when they want to get their cars up to 'track' speed.

Responsibility should be what differentiates TL owners from rice-rocket owners.
