105k Maintenance Service at 71k miles ? Normal?

Hi everyone,

I bought my 04 TL at 104k Miles. Now it has 116k miles.
The previous owner had the timing belt / Water pump done at 71k miles which included these:

19200-RDV-J01 Water Pump
14400-RCA-A01 Belt, Timing
38920-RCA-A03 Belt, Compressor
OL999-9011A Coolant (Type 2)
14520-RCA-A01 Tensioner
19102-PM5-A00 Cap, reserve Tank

1) Is this irregular to do this at 71k miles or still somewhat normal? Should this be done in another 105k miles?
2) Do you see anything I am missing that should of been done as part of this service?
3) Any other suggestions on maintenance / check ups that should already of been complete at 116k miles?

I'm sorry - I am a newb and sometimes hear noises when driving slow/turning.
Any feedback is appreciated.

Thank you.

It's 105 or 7 years. Not uncommon

Some folks will do the TB job early mileage-wise if the current TB has more than 7 or 8 years on it. Technically Honda/Acura says follow what the car display (MID) tells you and does not publish a 7 year limit for the 3G TL. The MID usually calls for the service around 105K. Based on mileage and what you say was done (parts changed) you should be fine with perhaps the exception of coolant age. Do you know the date of the service? I like to change out my coolant every 5 years with the OE premixed.

As far as the noises there's no way we can know. At 116K could be all manner of things.

I hear noises could also be indicative of the meds the op is on.

only thing I would add to the list of service is spark plugs
and if needed, the pressure switches

gtikid, What kind of noise are you referring to? Engine, suspension, road?

Isn't there some logic due in part with the TB being made of rubber?

Because what CNN said is truth, Trump's fault and Russian hacking..... Internet now these day has more negative impact rather than positive people can't seem to filter out the BS.

Normal. Whether it is true or not many people do go by 105k miles OR 7 seven years. Lots of different reasons people get it done early tho. Bundled it with other services that needed to be done and were similar. Overly precautious with maintenance. Some follow that timeline strictly. Maybe the shop talked them into it/sold them on it to make some money.

Ah! I feel like a fool. Yes the service was done in 2011 which is 7 years after 2004. So if i keep that schedule, i should have this done next year? (Maybe 125k miles Estimate)
I've never gotten a MID (pop up?) message before so I wasn't sure if that was normal.

I will research the other threads but so far it looks like I need these changed / updated?

Spark Plugs
Coolant
Valve Adjustment?

And the noise is strange noise only when i turn the steering wheel. I took a video on my phone but can't upload yet. It's kind of like the noise your car makes when you are reversing it
And Yes I'm in Houston. If you know any one knowledgeable with Acura, I would pay to have the necessary maintenance done (and whatever else they can point out SHOULD or COULD be done to benefit the car. Plus obviously that noise problem.
Thank you

I would wait for the car turn to 200k miles for the TB/WP. You are fine living in Houston where only couple days with a year dip down in the 30s. As long as the car being running and not sitting out side for years on end your TB is fine,my IS300 already got TB replace sometime in the past and yet the car is now at almost 200k miles, I will wait until the 105k come up tho. As far as Acura tech with good knowledge I would recommend the head tech guy at John Eagle, once my car drift to the left and the steering wheel is somewhat off center after countless alignment and suspension being brand new he actually recommend a service and made the car drive straight again. Sterling Mcall and Gilman kinda sketchy as they try to pull a fast one on the sale department.

I don't know about waiting till 200K; I would go to 175K for a TB/WP change (71K + 105K = 176K). I rather be safe than sorry.

Well thank you both for the info. I actually wish Houston was colder!!
But 175k-200k are good suggestions i'll keep that in mind, i actually wasn't really sure and thought 140-150k but i'll wait a litlte longer

In terms of buying car parts (Spark plugs) - would any of you ever purchase off Ebay ?

Hit 400k (km) on original belt in my toyotas. So 7 years is for pussies. But i changed mine out when i felt it necessary on my TL because this car has higher Rev limit and i am on that limit constantly.

Good thread timing on this since I was wondering about my '08 TL. Not quite 28,000 miles and April of 2018 it'll be 10 years old. It looks like it'll be quite awhile before I mess with that.
