That is normal price. Keep searching and maybe some dealers will eat the price!

Well best thing to do is to buy the parts from our Vendors and ask for labor cost. You will at least save $100 of that price.

Buy the parts from Gates. Everything is OEM except the water pump, and the kit is only $163 from Rockauto (Gates part number TCKWP329). Kit includes:

- Gates belt (Gates/Unitta make Honda timing belts)
- Gates water pump (aftermarket, but great quality)
- Hydraulic Tensioner (same as Honda)
- Koyo Tensioner bearing (same as Honda)
- Koyo Idler bearing (same as Honda)

After that all you will have to buy is a serpentine belt (Gates K060841 for $20), and two gallons of Honda blue coolant ($30-40). BTW: You can always find 5% off coupons for rockauto on google. I just installed one of these kits for my 04 Pilot and it really IS the best way to go.

just how hard is a timing belt? looks complicated and i'd hate to get the timing marks wrong.

Hardest part is always getting the crank pulley bolt off. If you've never taken one off before, it's good to have someone around who knows how to handle one. Second hardest part is usually getting a new serpentine belt on (especially if your all alone). After that it's all just a matter following the instructions and the tips people have laid out in timing belt threads.

You shouldn't have any trouble getting the marks lined up. Before you cover everything up, you turn the motor around twice by hand to be sure everything stays where it should.

I haven't done my Acura yet, but I've done two Honda pilots with similar J-series V6's.

my dealership had also quoted me for spark plugs, tranny flush and PS flush.....

but yeah if you havent done the plugs and the flushes, then consider those as well....if you have done it then 94eg has possibly laid it out the best way possible....

To expand on what you've posted...

OEM NGK Laser Iridium plugs are easy. You can get them through Advanceautoparts.com for $49 shipped with $20-off coupon RETMENOT123. They take about an hour to DIY. You won't find a better price than that on those plugs.

Coolant gets flushed when you change the pump.

Steering flush is an easy DIY for the cost of two bottles of Honda fluid (not required).

And trans flush is easy too. Buy a case of Honda DW1 trans fluid ($12 qts) and change it out once a week, 3 weekends in a row. Probably cost about $100 though.

But yeah, if you get a deal and don't enjoy working on your car, have someone do it.

Don't let the dealer wash your car...

Otherwise price is typical for a dealer.
