100,000Km on my TL...what services should have done by now?

I bought my car used form a Acura Dealer with 62,000km on it and ever since than i've been following the MID display to do my maintance. Right now I have 97,000Km on it and I hear a noise from my engine bay and my buddy told me one of the belts (the one one that runs my A/C and power sterring or something) should that one have been replaced a while back? or does that service get done when I do my timing belt and water pump change at 100,000km?

Since you're at roughly 60,000 Miles (100,000km). Do NOT go and replace your timing belt at this time. when you reach 160,000km (about 105,000 miles), thats when you replace your timing belt and do your routine 105k miles service. (you can find all that info in the search engine) Try not to confuse yourself with Kilometers and Miles.

it may be the ac belt- right kms or miles~
mine were done at 60k miles based on wear, and the ac belt tensioner went at 80k miles
Made a horrible thrashing noise before it failed
The complete maitenance schedule- though doing more is better- book is minimum things and max times- check to see if you are in severe service use area of book

Do you have the owner boook? the usa version are free online

it is time to replace the brake fluid and ps fluid for those with similar miles

The dealer should inspect the drive belts when its in for service they said mine should be replaced at the last service which was 92000 km for me but it was replaced when the a/c tensioner went at 70000 km. What kind of noise do you hear?

It's hard to say what kind if noise it is..sounds sort of like a squicking noice or some bird noise..lolz..not sure if that made sense...
The noise doesn't show up at all times..comes and goes kinda thing...I believe its happening more often when the car has been parked for a few hrs and than I start it up

Check and see if its louder when the a/c compressor engages could be the tensioner. Mine started as a squeak then turned into a loud rattle after a few weeks.

I actually tried that and the noise didnt increase, however I was able to hear a little bit better when I pressed down on my accelerator a tiny bit while the car was on park

there are 2 accessory belts- replace them both
the ac belt tensioner located at the top end of the belt- listen to the base of it with a mechanics stethascope or a long screwdriver with tip on non moving part of base,
listen to top of screwdriver for gravelly noise

listen to a few places to know what sounds normal in bearing- like the ps pump is there to listen to--a whirring is normal,, out of synch noise would be bad bearing in something

sorry to say but not true...
bloodylankan is in canada (like me) and would have to replace his belt at 100,000KM (unfortunately)

Taken from Owner' manual:

Symbol 4:
- Replace spark plugs
- Replace timing belt and inspect water pump.If you drive regularly in very high temperatures (over 110°F, 43°C), or in very low temperatures (under-20°F, 29°C), replace every 60,000 mile (U.S.)/100,000 km (Canada)
- Inspect valve clearance

There is a typo in the owners manual that should read -29 degrees Celsius but it does say +29 degrees and in southern Ontario its not below that to often so you are safe at 160000km for the timing belt change. Just follow the computer it will tell you when to change it

I had to read it three times because it just didn't make sense then I caught the typo. I was curious cause I had a Z34 once and the belt broke at 105000km and I wanted to make sure I changed this one before that happened again. Thank god it was a non interference engine

I guess imma just put up with the noise until my next service and have them take a look at it and if it is the A/C belt ill tell them to replace it when they do my Timing belt and waterpump service...might save money labour out of that.

You can pick up a a/c belt and change it your self its not that hard to do or the dealer could throw one on in a few min. You still have 60,000k till you need to do the timing belt so just ask them at your next service to change the a/c belt shouldn't cost much in labor.

Canuk cars are considered to be in the Severe Service part of the maitenance schedule- if you read it close, many of us in the USA are driving in that same way- heavy commute, mountains, high or low temps on consistant basis...but its in the fine print to make people happy- oh nothing needed till 100,000 miles--thats years from now

In Ca you can qualify easily for 60k miles being many parts replacement time based on high temp summers- heat and cold are bad for rubber parts - thats the main issue with the collapse of the Ozone layer,,
change the coolant if temps are high for the summer- then drive and enjoy

No I said 160,000km because you live close to me and we are not considered "extreme climate" as it says in the owners manual for the 100,000km change. So you are good for another 60000km before the timing belt service just replace the a/c belt at the next service.

bad luck for me !!
I was trying to save some money on labour and everything and I screwed myself over. I took it in to get Acura to check it up and diagnose the car. The diagnosis said that the noise was detected from the "serpentine belt and tensioner" but these guys wanted to charge me $350 for everything so I decided to buy the parts from them and get the labour done at a local shop.
Problem is that the noise did not go away :S
Im back to square one and replaced those parts for no reason!!

Well I guess its like a squeeling sound, as if someone is pushing around a rusty wheel or something. The noise only last for the like 5-10minutes when the engine is cold still. But I feel like as after I changed these parts the noise became louder, not sure if just a mental thing thouhg. Do you have a mechanic by any chance who can take a look at this?

im not sure if we can easily see them in our cars but the ac belt, power steering belt, alternator belt run close by each other..one of them may need tightening..try spraying water onto it and if the belt gets even louder then its def. it.

cheap fix anyway if you want to replace.

so the serpentine belt and tensioner is a different belt from the ac belt, power steering belt, alternator belt ? When we look right inbetween the engine and the windshild water thing we see the serpentine belt and tensioner right up front. Where are those other belts (ac belt, power steering belt, alternator belt).

lols..whos this lankan mechanic?..cause most of the guys ive been I dunt like their work too much..they are really cheap but their quality isnt good at all..

I've taken my car to two shops to have them take a look at this problem and noone can really tell whats wrong with it. They all know the noise is coming from the side where the alternator and tensior and etc is, but they cant figure out whats wrong with it. They suggested it could be the alternator or the power steering pump, but they cant tell me for sure. They told me to leave it be until the noise gets worse and happens all the time.
