0w-20??

hello, i was reading on Mobil's site about how they made 0W-20 to work better than the 5w-20 in cars that specify 5w-20? can anyone comment about this oil? it mentioned something about better mileage? thanks.

I used their 0W-30 all the time, and their 0W20 initially in my 04 TL, but in Atlanta it is impossible to find either 0W30 or the 0W20 any more so I stick with the 5W20 in my TL.

The head 'A' mechanic at Acura of Manhattan told me to only use Mobil1 5W-20

High temperature use 5w20 low temperature use 0w20

"In addition to providing benefits for hybrid engines, Mobil 1 0W-20 is ideal for use in newer cars, trucks and SUVs manufactured by Honda, Toyota, Ford, Mercury and Chrysler, where a 5W-20 motor oil is recommended. Mobil 1 0W-20 not only meets the requirements of manufacturers recommending 5W-20, but it also provides superior low-temperature protection and the exceptional performance of a fully synthetic motor oil."

0w20, 5w20, 0w30, 5w30, or 10w30 will ALL work in the TL.

0w20 can be used in any application requiring 5w20 with no problems. However, 0w20 is extremely difficult to obtain (at least in my area), and 5w20 is somewhat easier to find, yet 0w20 may not provide significant improvements in fuel efficiency or start up protection for most people.

I use 0w30 Syntec from AutoZone - the good German fomula. 0w20 is like sdewing machine oil - its spec sheet does not match up with even a 5w20 in terms of hi-temp vis, and Mobil formulates on the thin side of API specs to begin with. I would not use it in Atlanta - perhaps in Yellow Knife, Northwest Territories. Mobil can say anything they like, but better UOA's are being posted by far less expensive products.

You're kidding right?

The spec sheet for 0w20 M1 was fine, at least the SL version, but they don't have the SM version avaliable yet.

Nevertheless, Honda has been filling Civic Hybrids and Insights with mineral 0w20 for years now...and there've been no durability issues to date.

yea, i read that again the day i posted this and figured the only benefit of this really is for people in colder areas. i live in missouri so the summers are hot and humid and the winters are cold and bitter, so maybe ill do 2 oil changes a year, 5 for summer and 0 for winter.
