the '08 TL-S is mine
Finally got the '08 WDP TL-S (ebony/silver interior). Purchased it locally (CPO) for a little more than what I originally wanted to pay, but I think it was worth it.
After looking at hundreds of listings of '07 and '08 TL-S's, including CPO vehicles, throughout the country, I decided that $29K would be a good (and fair) offer for a CPO '08 WDP TL-S with 13K miles. So I headed out to the local dealer over the weekend to check it out.
The car itself was in immaculate condition and was kept in the showroom. It was pretty much in like-new condition, and the leather smelled nice inside. It drove and handled terrific.
It was listed at $32995 on-line (which I thought was a bit steep, especially given that there are a couple BRAND NEW ones that can still be had somewhere in the U.S. for around that price - although by now, I don't know if those cars are still listed).
I offered $29K, and the manager basically laughed at me for suggesting that, and he finally brought his price down to 31995. I told him no thanks and left. As I got in my car to leave, the salesman ran out to tell me that the manager was very reluctantly offering 30995 as an absolute rock-bottom price. He told me that the manager would probably not have even offered it to his employees for that price. It was take it or leave it (I also happened to be there on the last day of the month).
I decided to take it for the following reasons:
1) local, so I didn't have to deal with an out-of-state dealer who had the new car I had been eyeing for a while, so I saved on inspection and shipping fees, as well as inconvenience and worry that the car might be damaged in transit
2) CPO, so it has an extra year of bumper-to-bumper on top of the 3.5 years of remaining warranty (original purchase was made in August '08)
3) looks and drives like new
4) if any problems that came up that I would need to deal with the seller directly, they're local, so they can't hide far away
5) I don't know if there's any truth in this, but the manager said that many of the TL-S listings I told him about were for cars operated in the north, where they are much more prone to rust, so the car he was selling me was going to be a better quality car for the miles (we're in TX)
6) this car had the ebony/silver interior, which, seen in person, I actually like much more than the taupe on the new '08 TL-S that I originally planned on acquiring
Anyway, hope you all don't ding me too bad for paying more than advised, but honestly, these cars are in fairly short supply, so TL-S lovers don't exactly have a huge amount of bargaining power. And in all fairness, they did meet me in the middle (average of 32995 and 29000). And also, the selling price ended up probably not too far from the average of the prices of all CPO '08 TL-S's listed on-line with comparable miles.
So, not a great deal, but a fair deal. Any opinions?
Oh yeah, my happiness over the car (thus far), I might add, has no dollar value.
BTW,
This car also included the following accessories:
Lo-jack
Pro Pack (wheel locks, trunk tray, color-matched splash guards)
optional tint (they said 35% all the way around)
pin stripes
. . . and thanks to all AZ'ers who helped me out with my decision these last few weeks by posting your

you got a good deal IMO. I paid $26.5k for my 07 TL -S with 10k miles from a private dealer but the rotors have rust on the inner hubs and it drives me crazy!
The other day I got my car detailed and when I went to pick it up, I actually melted. I haven't felt this way about a car ever. Not even my 05 TL made me feel quite like that. Enjoy your ride and make sure you have the dealer put Nitro air in the tires. IMO it makes a difference in cutting down road noise and also keeps air in the tire longer since its absent of moisture.

First of all congrats on your new 08 WDP TL-S. This is exactly the same car I have but I have the Taupe/Ebony interior. Simply love this car and it sounds like you do as well. You deal does sound very fair considering you also got some extra's as well as the LoJack thrown in. I'd go ahead and take them up on the tint unless you want something darker. I have 15% all around. Post up pics of your ride when you can. The pinstripe you going to get hit on in here but to each their own. I think on some cars it looks good.

My TL Type S in kbp came with a silver pin strip. I don't mind it at all. If you like it, who cares what others think.
My car came with aftermarket weather tech rain guards on the windows which I hated and removed the following week after I bought the car. My wife liked it, but I just couldn't handle them, plus they killed visibility.
