07 TL switchblade

sorry if there is a thread for this but i tried searching a few times but couldnt find any good threads.

i was wondering if the new 07 switchblade can successfully be programmed to work with a 04-06 TL. all buttons - lock, unlock, trunk and seat memory.

i already have a guy that will mill they key for me and transfer over the immobilizer chip.

thanks.

If he is transfering the immobilizer chip from your current key to the switchblade key you don't have to program anything. It will be all the same. But if he is not, you can get it programmed for your car also.

Umm... you are aware that the physical part of the key is different right? The 04-06 used the standard style keys while 07-08 has the laser cut keys so you have to get the key "blade" milled and then cut inorder to work with the 04-06 cars.

he has someone that can mill them. To the OP:
be careful when milling, take you measurements carefully, the key isn't going to be straight when you put it in a micrometer because of the edges (orignal key) so make sure that you use the wider portion while measuring. The center slot that runs down both sides of the key is angled, so you might need to have a custom bit made for it like I had too. Also the location of the shoulder stops is very important!

i get my keys from ebay. you can order one here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2007-...mZ300250126461

milling is needed for 04-06 TLs because the new ones are laser cut and the old ones usually come precut and just need to cut the edges of the key.

non milled

factory key for 07+ TL

custom milled

What I can do is order a few extra keys and get them made. Then I can sell those at the same price to you guys in between batches...
