Lebanon Valley it is!! So down for some runs there. Franchise Idk the 6MT Type S is pretty damn quick! Not gonna lie I'd be pissed if I didn't pull on you being bolton/tuned lol . Line 'em up!

I may be getting the ECU and if so I'm looking for 11s @120+............

This thread is why I choose to keep my auto Type-S STOCK...because if it takes this much work just to make it as fast as a 6-speed it isn't worth it IMO. But good luck Boston!

whats your opinion on using manual mode vs leaving it in drive? and whats the optimal rpm to shift at when using manual mode?

^ Theoretically, it's best to rev right before the limiter so the engine is right in the meat of the powerband in the next gear.

We do NOT want to drop out of VTEC .. ever.

Even in a market boom we can't afford to

Teteux: What were the conditions like when you went to the track? An almost 103mph trap with basically just a Jpipe is ridiculous.

I'd be surprised if you didn't pull too lol. I see 250whp on your sig and I'm pretty sure your coupe doesn't tip the scales as much as my 4-door grocery getter

11s @120+ is weak. I'll be in the 10s when I get some more Type-S badges.

From what I gather, it's not really all that much work when you think about it. Boston is basically running the full RV6 exhaust treatment with an SRI plus the J&R tune. That's fairly reasonable considering how much power he's putting down now. I haven't driven a 5AT UA7 but my understanding is that it's a huge difference compared to the 6MT. To close that gap with a couple grand and some wrench time is what most of us are here for anyways

Numbers are just numbers though. Each dyno tells a different story. I am definitely going to the track this year, and only after my trans mount is fixed. No more excuses. 13.7 @102mph or bust. Then tuned hopefully 13.5 @104

Sonnick, when are you going to trade that torqueless J30 for a 6MT TL-TLS :p

The track down here is known for giving high trap numbers. That day, I felt the car strong and the weather was perfect...but usually the car is trapping 99.5X-101.1X..

Makes more sense. I'm actually thinking about trading it for a TL-s but it'd be nice to have no monthly payments...

Screw car payments. I'm hanging on to my TL for a long time. It's only got 75k and it's pretty much mint.

I'd feel much more comfortable saying I'd have no car payments in a TL though. I like my Accord, but I really want a Type S. But I have a feeling once I fix my issues, I will want to keep the Accord

Not alot of work at all...it's basically 3 department mods, exhaust work ($1,800 est)
SRI($100)
JnR tune($1,200)

Total for around $3100 give or take...to me thats money well spent given that some people spend way more on Audio and or some wheels without tires!!

At the end of day it all comes down to what you want out of your car...I wanted to be quicker than a stock TL-S and given that majority of the TL-S I run into are 5at stock....it makes it interesting when they see another TL-S just leave it standing still and also surprise alot of cars on the highway, but thats me, but others like keeping it stock which is also fine

I like modding, I mean I even modded my 50cc scooter so I can go faster than 30mph, Im doing over 50mph in a 50cc scooter in the city....I'm not complaining its still only $2 to fill that tank lol!!!

manual mode will yield you faster times, but you are more prone to make mistakes you must find your sweet spot so it shifts right before it hits rev limiter.......for me since I am tuned my rev limiter has been raised to 7100rpm so a few hundreds before that to shift right at redline......when in stock from just shift 300-400rpms before reaching your redline and you will be spot on...except when in 1st gear do it like 500-600 before redline as it climbs too quik in first and you will most likely hit redline rev limiter if you want to long

By the way, Boston...2 questions:

1) How much different does the car feel with the tune compared to untuned?
2) Have you gotten better gas mileage?

I'm curious on this too. Maybe we can get some more runs in sans-ECU on video to compare.

Swoosh, I'm curious as to how your car will perform since you'll have similar mods. Any 6MTs in your area for you to run?

yes before the tune I ran only like 2 5at TL-S and a bunch of TL 5at (stock)...

both i walked away fairly easy!!..

no...stock is roughly 6800rpm go out and try let it hit redline and you will see it wont reach 7k.....before I was shifting at around 6600rpm to prevent it from hitting redline..now I shift at 7k give or take 50-100rpms now that I think about it 7200 is where redline was set to

1> night and day difference!! climbs thru rpms much quicker and you feel the power thru out powerband

2> yes I have gotten better gas mileage but I have to calculate manually cuz the trip computer gives wacky numbers when the JnR ECU us hooked up....for example it reads im getting 42mpg and when I hit reserve it says I still have 100plus miles till empty ...Rodney is trying to figure out why it does this...no answer yet, im not too concerned about it either!

hey some ppl gotta work man, lol but anyway had some fun today with a E39 M5

was riding his bumper and was following him @ around 50mph which I was glad due to some light traffic as soon as his car in front of him cleared I got ready cuz I knew he was going to punch it.....so I punch it with him and from 50 till about 105 or so till we caught up to traffic I stayed right at his rear bumper did this 3 times or so and he could not pull on me in those speed ranges.........glad I didnt have to get into that 4th lmao

then I passed him and downshifted punch it and slowed a bit to see his cheesing reaction and thumbs up after he saw what was spitting from the back!!

Nice!

You get to run the UA7s and E39s while I have to ignore the Scions with fart cans. Guess I need to venture out to your area more often.

I know what you're saying. Since 95% of the base 04-06' TL's are automatic and stock, they're pretty slow, and it's fun catching people off guard.

Recently had some douche in a 4.2 V8 A6 riding my ass, then we jumped onto the four laner and I got over and let him pass. He nailed it like I knew he would, I spotted him a car length and then hit it around 60 in third and made him sad. Then we went again from ~ 65-110 and I made him sad again.

Do you have bigger injectors ? The ECU calculates the MPG/Range by the duty cycle of the injectors....so if you have bigger injectors the duty cycle will be low hence the MPG will be high....

That is all ??? so you have a full I/E setup with the Tune and ECU and the 6MT was half a car length behind ??? damn....gonna start saying some $$$ and get the type S 6MT LOL....

Night and day difference sounds good to me! And better gas mileage? JnR FTW!!! You guys definitely should get some runs in without the ECU at all, then get them after the ECU so we can see the difference. This is definitely a thread with epic potential...

I need a Type S 6MT! But I don't want monthly payments!! Should I just steal one and sell my Accord for profit?

For a Type S 6MT I'd do it in a heartbeat. All the mods can be transferred minus the exhaust which is too loud anyway. Continuous monthly payments rather than the liberty of not having them is the only thing I'd suffer from; which bothers me

Yea we already talked about doing that so once I get my update from Rodney...I will set another run date so we will do no ECU run and then a ECU run....also hopefully we will have a TL base 6mt join us as well which is modded pretty good as well.....also can try and get a 5at base with the JnR ECU soon!! but yea def stay tune as this spring might be packed with TL races on the street and the track as well

Unless I find a 6mt TL-S that I can break even and continue payments on that..just swap everything over and get Rodney to send a 6mt ECU and that will be a big upgrade...I figure though gotta be silver that way I can just say I did a manual swap!!!

your car is still strong at 1,2,3 gear...just the stupid 4th auto gear sucks..not your fault...

but in fact,i had run a 335i on highway from 60km/h(at 2ndgear),until i hit around 5500rpm at 4th gear,we were dead to dead even....but i can see the bimmer driver know how to drive it as well...btw,always depends on the road and drivers

Lebanon is my "local" track. Solid hour drive or so lol. I go fairly often, plan on going atleast once a month this year. I have an '04 5at TL, an '04 TSX 6mt, and a kswap 92 Civic still coming together, to run. Wednesdays "Test and Tune" are the best nights to goto LVD. Usually get 5-6 runs on average for $20

Yes, it was you, r3devi7! Couldn't remember your name. When do they open, late April?

Lol, sorry I usually only check the Performance 3g section, so just saw this.

Yeah says April on their schedule; http://www.dragway.com/home_006.htm

But really depends on weather, the surrounding area tends to flood if there is heavy rain.

Helmets needed for 13.9 or faster. I know they require a cage at a certain speed, but I dont remember what it was, I dont run that fast lol and I dont see it on their website;

I think NHRA specs a cage and a few other requirements at 11.99 or better. I knew a couple guys who had high 11 second cars and would just soft pedal a little to stay in the low 12's. LOL, not something we'll ever have to worry about with the TL's.
