'07 TL-Removing projectors

I painted my headlights about 2 months ago, and as soon as I put them back on and turned the HIDs on I noticed my passenger side light was a little bit more dim then before. After thinking about it I think I touched the lens with my fingers. I think I can see smudges on the lens. Is there a way I can remove the projector from the back on the headlight without opening them up? It wasn't hard opening them up but I just don't want to do that again. OR, what would be the best way to clean the lens??? I was thinking of taking off the projector, or sticking some kind of bendy thing on the DRL bulb entrance that is flexible enough to reach the lens and clean it. From the pictures I've seen there are only 4 screws holding the projector onto the headlight, and the opening seems big enough.

You will have to open the headlights to get the projectors out.

Exactly what Nate said. I can't see a way around that.

Damn it. I was hoping you can just unbolt them from the back and be ale to slide them off through the HID cap hole.

yeah thats not possible, like absolutely no way. its screwed into the whole bracket that is one piece with the DRL housing. and plus the screws are facing the front, so 100% impossible

Really? So when you're looking into the hole for the HID there are 6 screws facing you around the projector, what are those for? Just wondering

Even though I would also want to get the smudges off the lens, that wouldn't be the reason that one is dimmer than the other. So if its really putting out less light something else may be wrong. So it sounds like you have to take them apart for more reasons than to just clean up the lens.

The 8 screws in the back are holding the projector to the bezel. 4 for the bezel and 4 for the bowl to attach to the reflector. Even if you got the 4 out I don't think the projector would fit through that hole. The solenoid is going to be in the way.

So maybe I moved the lens to where it would come out of focus? I didn't touch it on purpose. Can the lens be moved that easily?

The lens sits flat on a metal lens holder. There isn't really a way to mess that up otherwise the metal lens clip wouldn't snap closed. Not sure if you removed the bulb, but I have seen bulbs not seated correctly and that will definitely mess up the focus. So maybe start with that first.

Yeah, I know, I gotta take pictures to better show it, although I'm not sure how good a camera would capture it. Maybe it's just my imagination playing tricks on me then. I didn't remove the bulb when I opened the headlight.
