I believe they are seat specific. There is a memory 1 key, and a memory 2 key. The memory 2 switchblade key might be more expensive.

I'm not quite sure what you're getting at. all the keys have chips inside them already, you dont need to get this installed. You buy a key with either a memory 1 chip or a memory 2 chip.

you buy a machined switchblade, take the switchblade plus every key you currently have to to the dealer or a locksmith. They cut your switchblade and reprogram all the chips inside every key you have to work with the car. Your car and all the keys you want to work with your car, will need to be reprogrammed, in person, all at once.

No. When it opens it is considerably longer than the wife's Accord key. The key for her Accord has a head that is only slightly larger than the head of her '98 Accord key, but on the '07 the fob is part of the key, there is no separate fob like the '98.

??

The instructions on the first page ARE for linking the memory settings. "Programming" requires a several thousand dollar device which acura or some locksmiths have which can reprogram all your keys to work with your car.

thanks for correcting me but the link from the 1st page says "Programming the remote transmitter/keyfob 3G Garage #L-079"
and my car says i have to "LINK" the remote, buddy.

anyway, I went to a "master locksmith" and he took a glance at my key and said, " you got that off e-Bay?'' then told me he can't cut it because the steel is too hard and it will ruin his machine ( meaning his keys are softer ). Acura wants $45 to cut it and $145 to cut & program.
i'm going to have to find a better locksmith or cheaper dealer.

from the instructions on the 1st page i can lock/ unlock the doors & roll down the windows. no memory settings

So how many of you have gotten the SB key to work with all the functionality as the Keyfob for the '04-'06 Tl's?

I would guess that 99.9% of us that got it for the 3G TL have it doing exactly what the key that came with the car does. There must be over 100 of us.

The .1 of 3G TL owners that had problems either had the key cut or programmed by someone that didn't know what they were doing.

Most of the problems that you read about are for other than 3G TL's trying to use the key. There were some issues for some years of TSX's.

Your welcome. The page title is misleading, the directions are for linking the key to the memory & security settings, hence you're hitting lock/unlock.

programming is for enabling the mobilizer chip in the key to start your car.

You may not be able to link the memory settings until the key is programmed.

I've seen and done all this first hand. No need to get your panties all bunched up when people are trying to help.

first of all: you need to chill out a bit and stop imagining me wearing panties. im not like that, sorry to let you down, but i'm not a sissy.

2nd: Yes the title is misleading since you were smart enough to figure that out you should understand what i'm talking about.

3rd: you were a big help but if you want to be a smart-ass about having to give advice, then no thanks.

AND since you quoted me, go take another look and tell me how i insulted you and let me know what gives you a reason to take offense and talk shit.

I don't want to insult people, but I'm not going to take shit for no reason.
you have PMed me before with compliments, so i thought of you as being a bit more friendly.

and by the way, thanks again for the info.

I just got mine cut today by the deale, but they didn't do it right. So I came home and filed it down more myself and it works. I have to jiggle it once or twice but it'll turn in the ignition. Now tomorrow I have to go get it programmed.

Help

Hello all,
Interested in changing my 04 tl keys to new key fob. I have noticed that the Acura Dealer in Avon, CT does it. Do I have the by the 07 key fob on my own or does Avon Acura do all the work?

Thanks,
Nick D

you need to have it cut and then programmed before you car use it to start the car.

There is an immobilizer chip buried in the key - that is what has to be matched to your car in order for it to recognize the key

my dealer sells blank 07 key fob, i wonder if i can buy it and tell them to cut and program

the cost for the mem1 switchblade was only 50 buck..now i wonder how much they charge for service.

I called the front desk and the guy was like..uh it wont work with ur 04 acura. I was like are u sure? cause many TL people say its working for them perfectly. lol He sounded suprise cause i dont think anyone ever asked him that.

i called a locksmith that specialize in cutting and programming, but he lives 27 minutes away. he's going to charge me 50 buck for cutting and programming, lets see how much the dealer charge me.

what i dont understand is why mem2 cost more than mem1..he say mem1 switchblade are 50 buck and the mem2 are 94 buck..werd

The blank 07 fob needs to be milled before you can have a locksmith cut it.......the guy at the front desk is right....... the 07 key as is will not work until it has been modified

or should i ask the locksmith if he can milled it?

The dealer/locksmith won't mill it - I see you are new here so I'll try to sum it up

You are best to buy the milled keys from Pete (FLBusa) - once you receive his keys then and only then can you take them to the locksmith to have them cut.

The stock 07 key that your dealer sells is a laser cut key - it won't work as is without being modded by FLBusa.

I got my Switchblade key (the machined one, $94 shipped). I read on other posts that I have to take all my keys and fobs with me when I take my new SB key to get the transponder and fob programmed and cut or my other keys and fob will lose their link to the car when the new SB is programmed. Can any one confirm this ?

Preferably someone who has already had their SB key programmed and cut.

Does anyone know where we can get an 07 key fob milled for 06 at this point? As far as I know, unfortunately FLBUSA no longer does custom milling and sells only the entire milled key itself.

As mentioned in a different thread; you're better off buying the thing brand new and made correctly from FLB - it's one unit and has not been hacked apart/glued together so durability should be much better than trying to cut your key and make it fit into the 07 switchblade housing.

I bought my 07 yesterday Tl-s whats FOB mean? are you guys talking about the keys that come with the tl-s or what? In my opinion I think they are a little behind the key would look better if you can just push it in a slot like Bmw and push the start engine button
