Anyone know where i can pick one up with the carbon fiber insert? I checked on the forums and couldn't find anything, also did a google search and nothing came up of any use other than some cheap off brand ones

AFAIK there is not TL-S OE knob with a CF insert.
Only thing I know about is:
Which is a Momo Combat Evo knob.

Unless my buddies car came with an after market one, he had one in his TL-S when he bought it a few weeks back. Just a small change, but it looks pretty good and I wouldn't mind getting on for my TL. Although, the Momo one looks good too

Oh. You're right.
I forgot about that little CF strip. I haven't used it in a while.
I like the Momo better.

^^^ Anil is right (about both!) I am a carbon fiber whore. But Bearcat has THE carbon fiber shift knob from Momo. Mine is exactly like his, but with a silver insert where the carbon fiber is.
These Momo shifts are on EBAY for around $88.

Thanks for the help guys! I think I'm going to order a Momo one with the silver insert to match my base interior. am I correct in assuming that these are pretty much connect right to the stock shifter? never really messed with my shifters in the past and wanna make sure i don't need anything else for it to connect properly

Theres a plastic "adapter" that goes on the top of the shaft to fit the knob.
Then the base of the shifter is held to the shaft by set screws. There are two sets of screws, one slightly longer than the other. Even with the longer screws, our shaft is a little too narrow and has to be exactly centered.
Even then I had a hard time with the set screws coming loose, so I wrapped the stock shaft with 2 layers of masking tape. That did the trick. I've been problem free ever since.
Once you get it, you'll see. It's very simple to assemble.

Jakob,
Bearcat is right-it looks simple, but it gave me a tough time too. Just be sure to center the shifter "stick in the middle of the Momo knob. Then tighten the 3 screws while the knob is centered. I didn't use the masking tape, but I wish I did.
