07-08 TL-S Front Aspec Lip Mod Question.

Hello my fellow TLer's.

I had just recently ventured(from toronto) to pick up my WDP aspec skirt kit from Tim(Ray Lak's Acura) in buffalo! *thanks TIM!!!! damn those boxes were gignormous* lol.

anyhoot...planning on installing the kit when the weather gets a bit warmer sometime late march....my mod question is, the front lip piece loses the chrome bar accents and honey comb meshing. Has anyone done or known of anyone who has somehow modded the front aspec lip to mimic the stock look of the honeycomb mesh and chrome piece? if so i would love to do this mod...any help, pics and advice would greatly be appreciated!!!

Dont recall ever seeing a type-S a-spec with the honeycomb mesh mod, but I think it'll look really good if you wanna DIY this.

Theres a few mesh grill/chrome trim DIY on this site, you should look them up and see what you can do, not much different when it comes to grills regardless of model.

As for the chrome trim I think there's a strip you can put on the try to get it to match up a little. That's one of the reasons I put the base lip on my S bumper so I could retain the chrome trim and the honeycomb grill.

I know what hes talking about. There was a blue type-s here some where on the site. He did not remove the honey come insert and some how they showed through the aspec.

a little off topic, but Ray Laks is my local acura dealer and they've been great so far. a buddy of mine is a tech there and always does the work on my tl-s. gotta ask though, why drive to buffalo to get an aspec kit, can't you get it from a local canadian dealer?

well here's the math....right now cdn and us dollar is almost at par! so, i paid $771 including buffalo's 8.XX% tax, coversion to cdn currency about $801cdn. paid about $40 cdn at border for duties (said it was a $300 dollar front/back bumper cover?! lol don't ask, they bought the value which is all that matters) and about $20 bucks gas. so all in all approx $861cdn from buying from Ray Lak's...

Now good ol' Canadian stealership pricing = about $550 for rears and fronts each and $725 for sides so approx $1825 cdn but wait...we pay 2 taxes.. which equal 13% so total of :approx $2062 cdn...

so i pretty much put $1200cdn back in my pocket, well actually gonna get my suspension upgrade...so hey... now you know... and they told me A LOT of cdns drive down there for parts... definately worth it.... i got to go down again for my friend so i'll see what else i can pick up lol.....

but yea cdn acura parts are absolutely ridiculous!!!!

any idea who? i mean wouldn't it not fit? i'm just assuming by looking at the pdf file for the install of the front lip....

i was thinking of using a dremel, and manually cut the honeycomb piece out to fit every space of the aspec front lip

Actually i saw jptl04's pics of his front lip.... His mod is completely different than what i'm trying to do...

jptl04's TL looks like a 07/08 TL-S by the look of how his fogs angle downward, if thats the case, what jptl04 did was customized a BASE not TYPE-S aspec front lip and made the Base aspec front lip fit the front of his TL-S.

i'm trying to use the type-s aspec front lip which covers the whole stock front bumper fog area. and trying to not lose that honeycomb/chrome accent affect that currently is on my stock type-s bumper....

looks sick though!!!
