does anyone else agree with me that the 07-08 TL looks better than the 2004-2006 model starting from the backlights, stock rims, and the front bumper?

Maybe the front and rear of the 07-08 TL looks better than 04-06 but as far as the wheels go, there are a lot of people on here who like stock 04-06 wheels better than the stock 07-08 and some even like them better than 07-08 TL-S wheels I personally love the 3G TL (all years), yes the 07-08 TL may have nicer features but to be honest I am happy with my 2005

I did get the switchblade key that normally comes on the 07-08 lol.

I agree with everything but the wheels.

'04-'06 wheels > '07-'08 wheels,

 

07-08 wheels > 04-06 wheels > 07-08 TL-S wheels

 

This thread is so pointless. the 07 - 08 TLs include a little bit more than the 04 - 06 TLs, most notable being the fog light additions and the rims but otherwise most people don't seem to care about Base Models. Its more like its Type S or Not.

 

Yes I agree... I think the bigger front grill looks better on the 07-08 ... and I own an 06. However I don't think any of the OEM rims look good.

 

One thing I wish the 07 - 08 had is the 04-06 front aspec lip. As for the stock wheels, they are not my favorite, but I have grown to accept the gunmetals.

 

07/08 bumper looks nicer, but if I had to choose between the two base wheels, it would have to be the 04-06.

 

the 07+ base wheels just look so small with that style design. a drop with the stock 04-06 looks so hot, but i really cant say the same about the 07+. the switch from fake carbon fiber to fake nasty dark wood trim on the interiors with the ebony leather was just wrong. i am not a huge fan of wood, but that black wood is soooo not my thing. the older base models were sportier all around, interior and exterior, as well as the suspension. the 07+ base was softened in order to make the type-s sportier. and dont get me started on those pink tail lights. some like the 07+ fogs, i like but i dont mind that mine doesnt have them down below, but i think the aspec kit with the gray accents on the 04-06 stands out more and in my opinion looks more "sporty". ok, thats all i got. i love the TL regardless of year but i am pretty sure deep down we all know the 06 Aspec was the best year to date

 

Yes the 07/08 cars just all around look more updated and better. Its all personaly preference. I also think the 07/08 base wheels look nicer than the 04/06 wheels.

 

I have owned both and I like the looks of my 08 over the 04 in all areas except the wheels. I preferred the 04's less "busy" looks and they were far easier to clean. I REALLY like the 08's front end (foglight relocation), signaled mirrors and cleared tail lenses.

 

I agree thats why when I was looking a few months ago I ruled out pre 07.. But to each his own.

 

I think the 07-08 double-spoke stockies are whack.... not nearly as good looking as the 04-06.

But taillights especially are pretty nice.

 

you would think it should be better looking since it is a FACELIFTED 04-06 models. They changed those things to make it look better. But they made it look more luxury then the previous models (except type-s).

 

i love 07-08 models, they got the rear camera. o7-08 TL's have everything that the 2009 TSX has, if not more. I hate the 07-08 Type S rims, they look dirty with break dust all the time and it looks like a snow flake or somethin which is my main reason why i didnt get type S. and the tail lights dont show much contrast lik the 07-08 base tail lights.

 

I completely disagree. My '05 looks way better than the 07-08s. I do not like the fog lights in the front bumper, nor do I like the side mirror turn signals, the silver strip in the front bumper vents, the base tail lights are horrible, and so are the base and TL-S stock wheels. I just feel the '04-'06s aren't so busy looking.

 

I also disagree, I like the taillights of the 04-06 better, and I like the side mirrors of the 04-06 better, not because of the integrated turn signal but because of the shape of the mirrors.

As for the rims I could go either way, they both look good.

 

IMO 04-06 wheels look much more upscale, and I'm not a fan of the 07-08 taillights, especially when they light bright pink. Add to that the fact that you couldn't get a 6MT without stepping up the the Type-S, and I like th 04-06 better.

 

 

I think the 04-06 TL is the cleanest and most good-looking from a design-standpoint. It'll definitely age the best because it doesn't have all the unnecessary bells and whistles of the facelift. (By the way, I own an 08 TL-S and an 06 TL, so I get to look at both versions on a daily basis.)

 

I had an '06 TL and now have an '07 Type S. IMO the '07 Type S is a hands down winner in and out over the '06. I did like how easy my '06 wheels were to clean but I do like the sportier look of the type s wheels. I also get compliments on the type s wheels and never got 1 compliment on my '06 wheels.

Lights are type s > 0406 > 0708

wheels def is 04 06 > type s > 07 08

only reason some people may like 07 08 wheels is because there light silver which gives the car a "lighter" look instead of the darker look the type s and 0406 tl shows

Sort of how the 4th gen is supposed to look better than the 3rd gen....

Some of it depends on the color. I like the 07-08 better in white. In black, I definatley like the looks of the 04-06.

 

I know huh.....and I am sorry to say but the 4G still has not grown on me and I don't think it ever will....I have only seen like 2 on the freeway and we're are now almost Aug 2009.....I do have an 80 mile round trip commute so I would expect to see a lot more of them on the road. I think Acura really screwed up with the 4G TL

By the way I know there are a lot of threads about this but I decided to share that anyway

 

fog lights, side mirror turn signals are the new standard in luxury vehicles . look at all the 2009 Acura Models.
and the SILVER STRIP in the front bumper vents is nice cuz even BMW's and Audi's do it.

busy looking??? u must have a car with zero mods then. and if the base TL rims are so ugly, then why dont i see any 04-06 rims in any TL in Acurazine. everyone got ron jon wheels and gold rims and what not. So W/E!!!

and i positive if i put a survey to the WORLD and said would u like an 04-06 TL or and 07-08 TL , ppl would pick the more recent TL. I BET U a million bucks im right.

I'm not understanding the rims comment. On here, there are likely as many aftermarket rims as stock and that goes for every year. On the streets around here, with the average age much higher than acurazine, I rarely see aftermarket rims.

 

Well this is a pointless thread, it is all a matter of opinion really. Some people like the old lights, some people like the older rims. And you know what, these are all easily interchangeable parts so no there is no difference really. I can easily make my 04 TL look like an 08 TL or vice versa or a combination of both. Key word being 'look' in that sentance.

That said my personal opinion, I like my front 04-06 front Aspec, I like my 07-08 Type S taillights, and I don't like any of the stock base rims. Now I like my car better than any year TL out there because its customized to how I like it. Which is what I said in the first place, its all personal opinion

 

Yeah kind of stupid thread. Ofcourse 90% of the time the person is gonna say they like whatever they own more. With that said the 07/08 models are hands down better looking in every category ;-)

 

Usually it's that way but I was looking to upgrade a year ago to either new base or Type S. Being that I was going to be getting rid of mine, I had an open mind but I decided that in black which is the only color I would get, I like the look of the early TLs better.

If we're comparing the base 07-08 TL to the 04-06 TL

I like the 07-08 TL better except for the back tail lights and the rims.

I do like the look of the 3-spoke steering wheel more than the 4-spoke one from the 04-06 but for driving purposes, I prefer gripping a 4-spoke steering wheel more.

 

Keep it civil and we'll leave it open...


The 07-08 TL is a facelift, it should look better and it does. Does it appeal to everyone, no. Does is please a majority of people, yes.

Dislikes about the 07-08's
1. Rim choice, the split 5 spokes in 17's don't look right. As well every mother and their son though the gunmetal rims on the TL-S was ugly as hell when they first debuted it...

2. 3 spoke wheel, the 4 spoke is a lot more comfortable on a long drive, esp on the highways.

3. DRL portion of the headlight, it would have been better if they threw in a projector with a halogen light as "passing" lights so people can distinguish between low and high when you want them to move over on the highway!

Like:
1. New gauges are very welcome
2. Upgraded navi is always welcome
3. Less rattles (improvements listed in my review thread)
4. Better grille, being larger it makes the car look a bit more aggressive.
5. Nice TL-S tails, I don't mind the base ones really.

 

Whoa! I was not expecting this. I come back to this thread and I've been attacked for stating my opinion. I do have some mods on my TL, but that shouldn't have anthing to do with the fact that I merely stated that I feel the '07-'08s are too busy for my taste.

 

I prefer my 06 manual over the 07-08 Type-S because I DO NOT like the front A-Spec lip on the 07-08 Type-S, I had one so I am not dissing anybodys car. The 07-08 Base front A-Spec lip looks good(BETTER THEN TYPE-S) But the base 07-08 has a softer suspension and doesn't come with a manual. SO for my taste the 06 manual TL is the last great looking TL IMO.
