'07/'08 base headlight conversion to TypeS *FAQ*
OK.. so i did the driver side only for now.. will do the passenger side later this weekend.
some notes if you want to attempt this:
(assuming you have a 07/08 base).
1. the front signal bulb you have is a 7443 white. The typeS uses a different orange bulb (1157) which is NOT compatible with the base connector. Either find a 7443 in amber (impossible!), change to LED somehow, OR get the typeS connector. NOTE: the base 'connector' does not screw into the typeS headlight module securely.. therefore, it is recommended to find the typeS connector instead. (if anyone can get me a part number so i can order it, that would be appreciated)
2. there are 2 bolts that are almost completely blocked by the resonator. You will not be able to remove the headlights without removal of those bolts. so.. best way is to remove 2 bolts that are holding the resonator in place and then pushing downward on the resonator so you can expose the 2 headlight bolts (marked 'c' on the scans in the garage). I highly recommend a 10mm socket with extensions.
this conversion is not completely plug and play unfortunately... basically its the signal/corner bulbs you have to worry about.

I've got a set i plan on putting in my 06 this spring, my solution is to buy some 7443 connectors and make extensions to go to the 1157 bulb holder. Do you know what the wiring colors are, and what pin they go to on your stock connector?
see pix below for typeS corner bulb w/connector and base corner bulb w/connector. The prongs of the typeS connector will NOT fit into base harness.
so basically i'm either going to find a workable LED solution OR orange 7443 bulbs.
*the orange bulb is the typeS.

I purchased another two of the bulb holder above and plan to remove the bulb and install wires to connect to the type-s bulb holder, i just am not sure yet if the pins are the same order on both.
Here is what i plan to do, extend the lines from the original holder and then solder to the type-s one.

i dunno..sounds like alot of trouble?? i ordered some 7443NA amber from ebay. the base bulb connector isn't a secure fit into the typeS headlight module but it 'semi' locks into place enough to hold on.
Yeah i am not a semi locks kinda guy lol, it will take me maybe 30 min to make the extension and i like doing stuff like that so not too much work. It will take me longer to figure out the pinout on the two connectors.
