06TL vs AT Boxster

After not managing to pull on my buddies 06 manual Tibouron, rather stay neck and neck until after 60 mph holding off an automatic boxster brought my spirits back up.

Here's how it went, driving down a 2 way street where the limits 50mph, about 80 km, i see what appears to be some Porsche right up my bumper. The road approaches a slight 90 degree turn, leading a 2 lane road straight for about 5 km.

So i take the bend at about 70km downshift(SS mode not manual to second reving high) and hang in the slow lane. I keep my eye open for this bad boy, depressed from not being able to waste my buddies Tibouron earlier that day, so as soon as i see him getting bigger in the rear view side mirror i punched it. I knew theoretically without a doubt i'd lose horribly, but i dunno what drove me to floor it. To my surprise he couldn't pass me, but rather remained the same distance till i backed off at just under 80 miles, 130km/h.

I purposely braked seeing him fly by then he braked, i slowly approach him again not making any eye contact and i hear him downshift at about 70 again, so i downshift too side by side. He punched it first then i punched it and he couldn't pull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At the light, he refuses to look at me so i ask him if he floored it when we were side by side and he looks over with a girl beside him and gives me this response, "Hey man its my g/f's car and its a friggin automatic". Obviously is wasn't the Boxster "S" but who cares, it's still a friggin Porsche. Also i can't seem to find the 0-60 for the 06 Boxster auto ? N e one have an idea?

I don't know whether you raced a new boxster or an older one. The old boxsters with the tiptronics had around 220hp the new boxsters put out about 245hp and with a tiptronic tranny they are not all that quick. A new boxster with tiptronic will do 0-60 in about 6.5 secs and a manual will do it in about 5.7sec. But Boxster S's are pretty quick manual 0-60 is about 5.0sec. Nice kill though!!!

It really depends whether it was a 986 Boxster (97-04) 217-225hp or a 987 Boxster (05+) 245hp. AcuraDriver2006 you probably beat a 986 boxster and he raced a 987.

Well, i raced the tibouron not too long ago from a stop and i was bone stock then. . . before i get my AEM CAI. But this friggin kid has the 5 speed and a CAI and everytime we took off from 0-60 he was either beside me or a lil ahead depending on who launched first. He was speed shifting, obviously murdering his clutch but still...only till about 120 i barely started to pull :S He's probably bragging on some hyundai forum how he levelled out a 3G TL! lol Still i question that day. . . Having a 200lb passenger shouldn't have made that much of a difference? Should it have?

I drive a 5AT 06TL. . . and i know stock, our cars have not that much low end torque but i dunno the stats and the 05 Tibouron but it was only in my wildest dreams that i thought he could even run with me much less give the TL difficulty. I just checked the time for the tiburon ( Six-speed SE test car clocked 7.7 sec 0-60 mph). I raced my dad's 03 Odyssey lol....and 0-60 in that is about the same(Acceleration (0-60 mph): 7.9 sec) lol and I DESTROYED IT. I wonder why he gave me a hard time, think he had more mods?
