'06 TSX upgrades narrow the gap ... by alot
I been eyeing the TSX and TL for awhile now and with the upgrades the '06 TSX received, it seems the luxury aspect of the two cars are getting closer and closer.
To recap, the '06 TSX now has:
Bluetooth
Nav upgrade
Aux Input for MP3
Memory Seats
I did a search on "TSX" in this forum and most people complain about the power (duh) and luxury comforts. Now that the '06 TSX has almost everything the TL has, is $4k really worth the bigger engine. And I still can't believe the TL doesn't have Aux Input for my IPOD . Plus, I don't think the TSX has as many rattle problems as the TL. The TSX does have rattles, but doesn't seem as frequent as the complaints I hear about the TL. Of course, the TL has better sound system (but not much bass), bigger engine, better exterior, better interior material, TPMG, and power lumbar support. As you can guess, I am torn between the two cars. There's no comparison when it comes to the '04/'05 TSX against the TL but the '06 TSX is making me think twice.
P.S. Are the leather in the TL real, full leather compared to the TSX's leather?

The only thing on the list that interests me would be the memory seats
(and mirrors also?).
The TL is bigger inside, nice if you want to carry 4 people, its much quieter on the road, and the engine does not need to rev its guts out to make enough power to keep up with traffic.
I like the TSX, but only as an inexpensive sporty car, not as a luxury car.

I think the 06 TSX now has lumbar support too. I still would rather my TL over a TSX since the TSX sorta felt anemic when I drove it, like there wasnt much around me moving. Even my dad thought it wasnt worth getting the TSX.
The problem (or maybe not a problem) is with Acura's lineup. It wants to be a premium luxury company like mercedes and them but it doesnt match up with them. What I mean is Audi has: A4, A6, A8 and BMW has 3, 5, 7 (not counting the other models for each brand).
So for Acura, the TL is in the price range of the 3 series and A4 but has the size and some aspects of the midlevel cars in the other brands. So now I guess the TSX has to step up its game and get some things so that it can compete as an alternative for the 3 and A4 which offer things like Bluetooth now. That leaves the TL in the middle sorta, like the ES for lexus.
Or Im completely wrong in which case I'm sorry, I havent eaten yet and have a headache. I love my TL and dont really care that TSX owners now have bluetooth.

The size of the TSX made me choose the TL. The TSX has a rear leg room like a 3 series 4-door...as in it has none. I am 6'4" and my seat has to go back a good amount. Upgrades aside, the TL is still a better choice for the money.
I got the same feeling when I sat in a new Civic EX with Navi and that price difference is 5K+.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I LOVE the TSX handling ability. Much more sure-footed than the TL, but the previous statements stand .

The rear legroom of the TSX isn't that bad its better than the IS300 and the E46 3 series. I agree though that now there isn't any dramatic interior difference between the TSX to the TL especially when comparing Navi equipped models. The new gauges on the TSX look better and the new version of the TSX's Navi featured on the 2006 is supposedly faster than the TL's. Plus the TSX has rear fold-down seats. I know if I were to buy something in the price range of the TL I would probably purchase a 3 series. The new 3 has RWD and a good interior to boot. Which is why the 3 series is hurting the TL's sales. Honda is now marketing the TSX more aggresively with more features, its a more practical, sporty and economical alternative to the 3 series.

Everyone brought up some good points about the power and interior room, but I still can't get over the fact there's no Aux for mp3 but there's a cassette player? wtf? I am not paying $250 for the IPod integration crap coming out later this year.
For the rear legroom, the TSX is pretty spacious. My mom and girlfriend sat in the back during my test drive and they both loved it...but that's after sitting in the back of a G35C with stiff suspension.
And drkangel brought up a good point...the gauges on the TSX do look better than the TL (especially the blue '05 ones instead of the white '06 ones).
Yet, as soon as I get inside a TL, it feels so....luxurious and worth every penny. The TSX feels good, and I know I am getting a good value, but I just can't help glancing across the showroom at the TL . Maybe it's because in the back of my mind, the TSX is like a Shitvic and the TL is like...a TL.
Damn it Acura. Either give the TSX more power or fix the quality issue with the TL and put in the Aux. Oh, and fix the torque steer thingy too.

I was given a brand new '06 TSX as a loaner last week. I had it for 4 days.
I must say that it has gotten better, but in no way compares to my TL.
I missed my baby so much throughout the whole time with the TSX. The TSX is a bit more nimble but does not pull hard enough. It would be a much more fun car if it were lighter or had maybe 30 more hp and some more torque.
The sound system is not nearly as good as the one in the TL. The bass is muddy. Almost like a bose system. Our system sounds crisp. And of course, we have the 5.1 surround.
Before I bought my TL, I looked into the TSX. Boy am I glad I took that test drive in the TL. It changed my mind instantly. Now I'm happy except for the minor problems with the TL.

Before I traded in my 04 Accord Cp V6 6MT for my TL, I had contemplated the TSX also...but I just wasn't willing to go down in horsepower; I wanted to increase, not decrease. IMO, it would have been in comparison having an Accord and trading it in for a Civic; or having a Lexus and trading it in for a Camry.
I am definitely happy with my TL and at this point wouldn't trade it in for anything else on the market.

I was going to get a TSX, but I decided to pay more for the TL. I am very happy I did. My friend let me drove his TSX yesterday (thanksgiving) and I'm glad I got the TL. We both have Navi and 6 speed, but the TSX to me now just looks plain and small especially the back. Too bad the back seats of our TL's can't fold down.
