06 tl vs 350z

So, to talk about racing these two cars? Makes zero sense to me. I may as well get into my FX and be all hyped about racing an MDX then.

Stock to stock this argument about IS350 is irrelevant - we know a stock TL is not quick in comparison to an IS350.
To assert that a new 5.0 Mustang is not a threat is pure ignorance and spouting off like an idiot. IS350 would get destroyed by a 5.0 from a dig, lol.
For the record, my TL and my 135i would both crush any IS350. Easily.
This thread is mildly entertaining.

The sad thing is, he's not trolling with this. He apparently beat a "5.0" before and now genuinely believes his car is faster. Rather it was a V6 with 5.0 emblems or a genuine 5.0 whose driver was either in the midst of a stroke or totally clueless to the fact the dude in the cute little Lexus next to him was actually trying to race, and not just late for his manicure appointment, I'm not sure.
Sometimes I wish I lived on Fantasy Island myself. Even if the 5.0 blows the tires off and you can manage to beat him to 60, that doesn't make your car faster.

You do realize that not one person he thinks he's racing is actually racing.

That's not a fact sheet. That is advertising marketing number not an actual 0-60 number. Lexus didn't want to put down 4.8 or 4.9 sec in there because it makes IS-F look bad. 5.6 sec can be attained in an IS350 if you take easy on the gas, with traction control ON. Heck, I can make it run 7 seconds. All I have to do is control the throttle. I have made 4.7 sec's on an 2008 IS350 numerous times before, and that is with ONLY 1000 rpm in 40F weather. I mean, is 1000 rpm even a braketorque launch? It's nothing! Just imagine if I launched at 1500 rpm or 2000! it would have seen 4.5 sec. There are other IS350 owners who have gone 4.6 sec on complete stock, with no weight reduction, driver owner's manual, floor mats, spare all intact. The north of 4.x seconds is very very common for the IS350. 0-100 mph in under 12.7 sec. Quarter mile at 13.2xx on a good day.

13.2 on a good day? More like a PERFECT day. Fastest I've seen an IS350 go was 13.5 I believe. This was a couple years ago of course. I'd love to run you on a track. And then watch you run a 5.0 next.

Did some research, R&T ran it 4.9 seconds stock. Which was the fastest tested time.
Source
Fastest known 0-60 on 350 forums is user juice14g who ran 4.5 with light modification.
Most folks are putting down 4.9 without much effort.
Seems to be a pretty decent car.

IS-F is for ROLL PULL RACIN' such as:
50~ 100
60~ 120
60~ 150
60~ 170
It's exactly the opposite of STi and Evo's gearing character. The faster you go the tighter the gears get. It shines really good from 100 mph pull to the top end. So if you want to do a lot of highway pulling and want a nice quality and reliability you get an IS-F. It's not good for city light-to-light racing.

Theres not much difference in the acceleration between Mustang 5.0 and IS350 which easily does just a little over 4.5 sec 0-60. Even your modded TLS 6mt will have difficulty getting that unless you are on DR with good driving. Seriously Mustang is not big threat. The GTR certainly is.
Click here to see a stock 5.0 go 12.65
You are really going to try and say that's not a threat to an IS350, which can't even break into 12's in stock form? And is by all accounts basically a mid 13's car (low 13's on a good day?)
There isn't a stock IS350 on the entire planet that can keep up with a 5.0 Coyote.

Nah... you didn't look hard enough. If you dig out old discussions in my.is and clublexus you'll see some folks hitting 13.22x and 13.3x ET completely stock down to the filter on a nice day, not a perfect day, meaning temp around 40~ 32F and descent DA. On a perfect day it should see 13.0~ 13.1x.
Anything under 40 degrees is a phenomenal day and most certainly negative DA on any track near sea level. I went consistent 106.x traps in 32 degree conditions and my fastest since then is 104.5 in 60 degree conditions. That's a full 2mph, not to mention probably 3-4 tenths faster. Just saying those are GREAT conditions.

Sorry, but a IS350 will not beat a 5.0. My friend has one, and I've driven the 5.0 a few times, and unless it's an auto coupled with a clueless driver, you won't win. Maybe if you were in a 335i MSport which does 0-60 in 4.6 you probably could. Only real way to beat a 5.0 is in a circuit/auto x. Dragging one is a terrible idea.

You're not touching a 5.0 in either of the cars mentioned above. The Lexus would need to spray to be able to keep up and the 335i would need a JB4 tune + some basic bolt-ons.
5.0's are no freaking joke.
5.Bro checking out.

Is this the return of 1Sicklexus? ...'cause this may end the same way.
A play along for now though. The 5.0 is easily one of the fastest cars for the money and..in the real world....would take down an IS-F,let alone an IS350. While the IS350 would prevail over any stock TL, a G37 sedan is just as quick.....and the G can't do much versus a 5.0.

The 5.0 is almost as good in the corners as it is in a straight line.

In all seriousness; Is there a better buy than a brand new 5.0 as far the price to performance ratio goes these days?
What do they retail for, a little over $40k or something? I love the car but never actually checked out how much they cost.

Holy crap.. I didn't want to get a new car for a while but for that price I'm seriously inclined to look into one now.
Anx you've been talking about replacing the TL for some time now, how come you haven't considered the 5.0? I know you were looking into getting a 335i IIRC.

I'd wait for the IRS.. probably a little pricier because demand will be higher, but I'm guessing it will be one wicked ride.

My friend got his GT Premium (with no options) for 29k. They're discounting them like crazy.
And I don't think they corner very well IMO. You can certainly feel the weight and they just feel very lethargic too me. I've driven the FRS & EVO GSR and all though one is a bit cheaper, and one a bit more expensive, I prefer those 2 waaaaaaaayyyyy more to the 5.0. But I've never driven a 5.0 with a track package.
Certainly depends on your driving style though. I didn't have any fun in the 5.0. Felt like a big gob of mush to me. I prefer cars that are more "tight". Hard to explain, but you get that feeling in the FRS when your throwing it around. I am looking forward to the new 2015 model though. The talk of a IRS + a lighter weight has me excited. The Coyote is one hell of a motor.

Like you said though, everybody has their own set of wants and needs with their specific car. I can respect where you're coming from.
