Shop, shop and then shop some more.

Get the dealer invoice cost of the internet before you even start to talk price.

It is possible to get a deal a few percentage points over "dealer" invoice.

Are you buying or leasing? Where is your financing coming from? Are you going to have a trade in?

You are in a much better position to negotiate if you have your funds already set up and you know what the wholesale price range is of your trade.

Mine was about $51,000 taxes in, for an 05 Navi bought as an end of year model in October 05. This was $2500 off list. I think the 06 list is about $1000 more. Bought from Camco in Ottawa. I'm sure I could have done a little better but I wasn't interested in spending a lot of time and effort to save a few more bucks. I subscribed to carcostcanada prior to the purchase but the information they provided didn't help. Salesman told me they work on an 8% mark-up, which sounds right. Good luck.

I was planning to put $15-20K down and finance the rest with honda over a few years. No trade in, no leasing.

51K still sounds like a lot. I have a friend of a friend who bought from Acura in Hull for about $48,800 out the door for an 05 navi. Seems like a good bargain to me.

Has anyone had similar deals with Camco or Hull Acura???

Checked my invoice, and I was off a bit. I paid $50,225 including $1430 sales tax, $100 A/C tax, $100 fuel consumption tax, and a $299 fee called "vehicle tracing system", the latter perhaps being negotiable in spite of the salesman's assurance that it wasn't. They knocked $2500 off list for me with almost no haggling, so I'm sure I could have done better if I'd been willing to wait or shop around. I didn't even go to Casino.

Carcost said dealer invoice at the time was $40,756, and there were no factory -to-dealer rebates or allowances in effect at the time. So the mark-up was $3544 to the list price.

List price appears to have gone up $500 for the 2006 navi model, and the current is $44,800. I would guess the markup is still around $3600. You could get the exact dealer invoice from carcostcanada, and you'd know for certain. But it looks like you have around $3500 negotiating room off the list, which means anything under $50,000 would be very close to dealer invoice.

I'm no fan of Camco, but they had the car I wanted. They could use a little competition in Ottawa. They need to lose the arrogant attitude. I would definitely let them know you're willing to go elsewhere if you intend to get close to dealer invoice.
