This is not a safety issue - there would never be a recall. This is likely at best to be covered in a TSB, or a "courtesy adjustment". I plan to stay on my dealer, without relying on the Feds to do anything - why should they on a cosmetic triviality?

It's like software. Only rarely should you ever go with version 1.0.

I have to take my 04 TL in at some point to complain about the Bridgestone flatspotting and see if they'll give me Michelins instead. I also need to get a rattle in the ceiling checked on. I don't have the butt print yet (maybe I don't have a big enough butt), but plan to ask if they can give me the new seat covers for both the front and rear. What should I do if they refuse?

How about the back seat. Did they add this crease to the back seat bottoms? Pics?

Just talked to my dealr and they DO know about this issue with the '04 TL. I talked to the Sales Manager and he said he couldn't do anything, but the Service Manager could. He reiterated that they/he did know about this issue and would leave it up to the Service Manager to replace the seats. That's all I've got for now...... I will let you know what I find out from the Service Manager. I will speak to him when my new plates come in... They better replace them.....

I just checked my back seat, low and behold, some butt marks on the leather. I just bought the an 05 2 weeks ago. Took it for a 300 mile trip and now butt marks in the rear. Big creases and wrinkles for the front passenger .

i went to my dealer today and talked to the service manager and he said they cant replace the seats for 05 seats because that could be considered at altering the seats and altering is not part of the factory warranty.. so all they can do is redo the seats my taking it apart and re-tighten the leather... im taking it in next monday and well see what happens..

As I said before, I wouldn't bother with this unless you are willing to let those idiots damage your car.

I was thinking that the change may be a result of the new sensors in the passenger side seat, and the drivers was done to match. If that is the case it may not be possible to change from 04' to 05' seats.

Although it would be nice if Acura would replace the leather with the "improved" '05 design, think about what would happen if everyone decided they liked something about a newer car, and demanded the manufacturer replace any part that was changed or improved from year to year. Yeah...they'd go broke trying to keep up. That's why they make improvements from year to year. They screwed up with the design...yes...and they fixed it..maby..but I don't think they're going to replace every seat cushion because of butt prints. It would be nice...but I doubt it.

ahh... you might be on to something about the change and the air bag sensors because it sounds like Acura didn't do anything for the rear seats

I share the frustration about the poor leather (or padding, which ever it is) with the other members here... I definitely notice the prints in the front and rear seats in the 2 months I've had the car and never saw this in the leather of much cheaper Chevy's and Mazda's I've owned (or any make of friends or relatives cars for that matter)

I love the car, but this reminds me of a cheap leather couch

Leather seat cushion covers replaced. They looked OK for awhile but have started stretching after 2 weeks. After the paint that doesn't match, this is my biggest disappointment with my 3.5 month old TL. Other than a few wrinkle my '01 CL leather still looks great.

I think this came in a discussion before. I dont believe that the leather has poor quility at all. IMO, the leather is softer then most other luxury cars, especially my friends '00 E430. I remember discussing before that expensive couchs will have the same effect. Anyone back me up on this thought? I think the car is very comfortable.

J Ride. Even I think this is the finest and soft leather I've ever had in my car. However, the question is for what price? If this is going to wear out as fast as people describes on this forum then that will be a problem. I personally do not see any abnormal wearing sysmtomps though.

I had my rear seat covers replaced. One 1400 mile trip with two 145 pounders in the back was all it took to stretch them right out. The dealer didn't even attempt to argue.
I'm not any happier with my front seats either.

Does anybody else besides me feel the seam on the 04 seats on their butts/legs??? I have found this to be so uncomfortable, I am now sitting on a towel for a little more cushion.

I wonder if that extra stiching will fix this problem.

I think its possible to get it replaced only at certain dealers, if you talk to them in the right way.

I have conditioned my seats with Lexol every 1-2 months, but still have a butt print. I'm just glad not many people ride in my car the other seats still look new *L*.

Let me know if you have any luck. I took delivery of my '04 TL in April, and don't drive it all that much, only 4100 miles so far. Since I don't drive it daily, the slight butt prints I've got worry me considering the light usage I give the car. I haven't had the car back to the dealer yet because I've got one of the few (judging from this forum) cars without rattles, sagging headliners or other problems. I'm due for an oil change soon, currently at 30%, so I'd like to have the dealer look at the seats, and if I knew other people were having luck getting them to replace the leather..I'd ask and see what happens.

I was told by my dealer that 05 leather can not be put on a 04. So I ask why not put the whole seat from 05 to 04. They said, it can not be done due to the side bag law....etc.

I am working with them to state the fact even if they are going to replace the leather, it will come back again, then what. My car is only at 13,000K or 8,000 miles...too short to have these issues.

Stay tune for update.
