05 TL deposit tips

Hello all. I received an offer of $33,600 from a dealer kinda a far from me. It is a good price given I live on the west coast. I am about to put a deposit on a car that hasn't been built. Is there any advice from the knowledgable TL community you can give me so I don't get the last minute price hike when I show up to buy the car?

Imho...

If that's the highly regarded dealership, they will honor your order with the reasonable deposit. The trustworthy agreement will be placed between you and the dealership without the fancy amount of $$.

I allowed my dealer to charge $1k into my credit card on Sept. 6. 2003. They wouldn't sell my car to anyone else. But, if I decided not to buy 04TL, dozens of ppl were waiting in queue to get it.

Also, make sure your agreemnt states it's refundable deposit.

Insmanblue, first a couple of questions. #1. Does the price include delivery? #2. Who is the dealer?

To answer your question, you can put your conditions of deposit right on the order form. If they're sincere about their offer, there's no reason for them not to put what they said verbally in writing. You put the money down in exchange for getting that particular deal. In my case, I have a thousand down on an inbound car, but the dealer still has so many 04's on the lot that they wouldn't allow the salesman to price the car. But the vehicle in question was the exact specs I want, so I reserved it and just had him write "subject to agreement on price" on the form. In the days since then, I've been (nicely) bombarding my salesman with quotes I've gotten from the web, including one from a dealer who is reasonably close that's about $100 over your deal (but confirmed dlvy included). So they know I will walk if I don't get my price. It's that simple.

Good luck!
Luke

Luke the $33,600 price does not include delivery. I took you advice and put into writing what the internet manager and I talked about. He had no problems with that. I put a $500 deposit on the car to be built around October 7. rets. The deposit is totally refundable no strings attached. The dealers around here wanted $1,000 deposit non refundable. This is kinda refreshing.

Now I don't have to fly down to California from Oregon to get a TL. However, I did fly to Las Vegas to buy a G35 a while back. I like buying local better.
