05 TL 6MT > 5th gen Prelude

last weekend myself as well as others made the trek to atlanta for the 2005 NOPI Nationals. for anyone that was there, you may have seen a black 5th gen Prelude that had sparkles n the clear coat. it also had lambo doors. car was originally green and the doorjams etc were still green and it had tan interior...... total rice patty car.

so as i am on my way up I-26 between Greenville SC and Spartanburg SC i come up on this same car. i immediately began to laugh knowing what was inevitable.

i slowly pull up beside this car and look over at the guy. My girlfriend, a friend, and myself just start to laugh out loud. he start the gas pedal rev on the highway thing, just going back and forth to WOT while still in gear....

so i downshift and make my 270hp beast jump.... i wait for an acknowledgment from him and then i take off. i pull on him like 4 cars immediately. i then shut it down.

TL - 1
Ricecake - 0

we all know what happened next. the ricer fly-by..... he comes screaming by but i dont let him get the last laugh, he manages to get a half car on me before i mash on the gas and pull up beside him. my buddy hangs out the rear window and waves while we are beside him.

i put my foot back on the gas and let the fabulous fly-by-wire system take its course. i pull on the guy like a raped ape. he cant even hang with me.

i hit the flashers just to piss the guy off and off we sail into the night.

TL - 2
Ricecake - 0

Nice Turbo, I had a similar encounter with a 5th gen documented a few below yours! N/A four bangers have no chance against the Torque of the 6MT TL!

Good kill

Try duking it out with a Prelude SH on a twisty road though

haha, i used to own a Prelude (see avatar), my best bud has an SH (well, used to be an SH), i was never really impressed with it. with my driving style i still think there would be no competition for me against an SH in the twisties. the atts system really doesnt do much more that a helical LSD, just like the 6MT comes with

i still miss my Prelude

The TL isn't as balanced as a Prelude SH, I believe is what Ken meant. LSD or not, the TL's not going to keep up with a Prelude in the twisties.. or a TSX for that matter.

i still have to disagree. i have driven all of the above mentioned. and even though a TSX and a Prelude would me more agile, the shear advantage of all the extra torque available on a curve exit would outweigh any loss of momentum when entering a turn.

Agreed with Turbo Sam. I had the prior last two generation preludes, though i loved them and miss them. Still can not take out the 6mt tl.

I have to differ, and I am available for any track call-outs - Summit Point or VIR. Bring them both.
