05 TL 1600 miles butt prints already

SO I looked at my car already with only 1600 ish miles on it, in 8 days now, and I already have butt prints on the front and back. My friends where in the car for the long 1000 miles haul to Key West, FL.

What gives????? Anyone else experiencing this? I don't care all that much, I won't get them replaced until they get really bad, but I figured this would have been figured out by Acura by now.

do you think if it were not for all of the posts about "but prints" on this board that anyone would even notice, or that it would be an issue?

Strange. My 05 w/2400 miles does not have them. Must be people only with narrow butts.

We seem to discuss this before... Big hip, heavy weight, sitting position, leather condition, leather, etc, may affect the result of butt print.

For me the butt prints are not really an issue. But the state of the leather on the side bolsters, and the creasing taking place on the front of the seat has me concerned.

I have 4500 miles on the car, and it looks more like 45,000. I don't think that the side bolsters are solid enough (the material needs to be much firmer) and the leather is much cheaper than the center of the seat.

Obviously not, although I like you mind set on it. An example of mass hysteria?

Perhaps you are right, that if we were to build a time machine, and go back and "silence" the first poster of the butt print "problem", this Forum would be far less cluttered with one issue. Let's talk about great beers you have drank in the TL, or something - anything!- even a discussion of hand creams you have used in the TL, or boxers/shorts would be an improvement.

Butt prints - it used to be called "breaking in the leather". I am sure this is why Lexus and some others use "gathered" leather (tiny folds like a theater curtain, instead of the TL's smooth approach) - although on some cars you can feel thoseseams. So the TL has nice smooth leather, which will of course stretch, and others try other approaches. What is the big deal about this? I do not get it.

I disagree. People who have never seen the posts on this forum about "butt prints" have commented on that to me after seeing my 2004 TL. It's rather two dimensional to think that this wouldn't be noticed if it wasn't mentioned on these boards.

Who cares already? You guys are pulling your hair out over butt prints? A lot of cars have leather seats which leave butt prints. Someone just posted a picture of a Porsche Carrera GT ($450k car) with BUTT PRINTS! Unless you and your guests are only gonna LOOK at the seats, whats the big deal? The only time you or anyone else is going to see those butt prints is when you get in and out of the car. Why make such a big deal about something that your only going to sit on? It doesn't affect comfort in any way, relaibility, no sort of noise, functionality, value etc... What exactly could one gain by not having any butt prints?

I didn't really care for this topic before, now it's just getting out of hand.

Excuse us for having high expectations after paying $35,000. I didn't buy some cheap Ford, I bought an Acura. I had two Honda Accords and an Acura Legend before getting a TL. There was no butt print on any of those cars. I know people with the previous TL. Their cars don't have a butt print. A butt print doesn't ruin the car, but it does reflect pretty poorly on Acura that they can't do something so simple. If their previous seat designs didn't leave butt prints, then why change the design? If ain't broke, don't fix it.

Again I will reitterate I only posted MY comments because I HAVE a 2005 NOT 2004 TL. All the other posts were for 2004 TL's. I am just making people aware that the problem is NOT SOLVED as many people might have thought.

Strange how the Accord has the same 3 panel seat design and the leather doesn't stretch. I had my 03 Accord for over a year before getting a TL and never did I see a butt print.

yo!...

im not trying to hijack vidoprof's thread, or flame, or prevent people from posting...i was just saying that there is a proliferation of theses posts...

i guess that if youve been on this board for a long time, and check in frequently, it gets frustrating seeing the same posts day after day after day........

after day

....i'd just like to *learn* some new stuff, or read something different once and a while...

This is the *first* thread that I've seen documenting this problem in a 2005, I found it interesting that the seat redesign didn't entirely fix the problem. Good post IMHO.

Why not just skip the posts you're not interested in? By posting in this thread you're just bringing it back to the top.

just an update guys. i took my car for the seats and blown subwoofer. Sub replacing as we speak. i got rental and 04 tl white... nice.... but seats they say that its normal for the design they made. That they know of the prints and streches.. so i said. ok as long as you dont say its my fault at the end of the lease.. he said. no. no. its normal wear and tear.. now if they TEAR.. then its covered under warranty so dont worry about anything. we will replace it. so its ok. and i asked him to write in my ticket, that i complained and what he told me.. that way i have it on record. just in case.

ps// i have no idea if i am writting TEAR as in crying. or tear and in wripped. but i mean RIPPED. lol..

Define "problem" rather than "irritant" or "fussy affection".

Bulletproof engines and we go on and on about leather.

Remember Oscar Wilde:

"The problem with youth is it is wasted on the young".
