05 Recall?

Does anyone know about the 05 Recall thats going on for the gas pump or cap... or something to do with the gas tank? I just bought my car on Monday, and I cant get delivery until they get a new part because all 05s that fall under some VIN category have to have them replaced.... my uncle is the service manager at Acura in Brookfield WI and he says its no joke....

im MAD!

If you know your car's VIN, register it with Acura OwnerLink. That site will tell you if your specific vehicle is subject to any recalls. I just checked and my '05 does not have any recalls listed.

I just spoke with my uncle, he said that the problem is so new that 05 owners wont be getting notification until the week of April 2nd. The parts arent even in stock right now.

Reason for recall?

Could you or your uncle please be more specific on exactly what the issue is? Thanks.

Apparently they are going to have to have the fuel pump replaced. It's a FEDERAL Law because of liability. The defective fuel pump causes the car to die while driving and then you lose all control and that's not good.

im sure theres more details than that, but i have limited communication with him while im here at work.

I think this is an old recall that your car fits under with specific VINs.

2005 ACURA TL Recall ID from NHTSA: 05V132000

This is a NEW recall for:

VEHICLES AFFECTED

2005 RL – From VIN JH4KB1...5C016266 thru JH4KB1...5C020997

2005 TL – From VIN 19UUA6...5A046061 thru 19UUA6...5A067961

2005 TSX – From VIN JH4CL9...5C018626 thru JH4CL9...5C025175

BACKGROUND

A manufacturing fault with the fuel pump relay (PGM-FI Main Relay 2) could cause a coil wire inside the relay to break. If this happens, the fuel pump will not operate and the engine may not start. If the relay fails while driving, the engine may stall without warning and a crash could occur.

Nope, Dan. He's the service manager.... when you pull in for service, his desk is in the front, right by the parts department.
