04 TL's in LA?

Hi all. I live in Ohio but I am on business in Torrance, CA right now and I can't believe how few 04 TL's I have seen. I have driven around every day since last Thursday and I have seen 1 04 TL. There are many 03 and earlier but not many 04's. Why is this? There are a bunch in Columbus Ohio, all over the place but not here. Just an observation. Anyone else from LA or any area for that where there are no 04's yet? Eric.

Maybe its just Torrance....I live just outside L.A. in the San Fernando Valley and I probably see 5-7 a day. Kind of cool, kind of sucks. Seeing all the plain TLs inspired me to get new wheels though....want to stand out a bit

Well, I was out of town last week, so you better not have seen my car driving around Actually, I'm a bit south of Torrance and see an average of 1-2 a day now. At least I am the only one in my office parking lot

Well, if you see a (I'm ashamed to say) dirty Anthracite with Downey Acura paper plate in the back on the 405 near Seal Beach, that might just be me. Though, you would be going south while I was going north, so it might be hard to get my attention.

i see a couple going to work from san bernardino county to downey/cerritos area. not everyday but every other day maybe 1-3. mine is still unique since i'm the only one with a TL that has an unnecessary screw hole in my front bumper to hold up the front licencse plate stupid dealer lol

Got my 2004 TL in December. Huge waiting list but because family in the Car Biz I got to jump up a bit. Took it out on a drive to Las Vegas in Feb. and there were none spotted on the way out, during my time in Vegas, or on the way back. Now seeing more and more. Had chrome wheels put on and tinted the windows to distinguish it from a few others in town.

I see NONE here in Simi, which is about 30 min north of LA. I'm gonna be the only damn one next week, I tell ya. I have seen quite a few in Long Beach, however.

I'm in West LA area and I rarely see any new TLs either. This is image area where BMW, MB and Porsches seem to rule. Maybe the TL is not flashy enough for LA? Fine with me though since the TL is a better overall car and and being understated is a good thing sometimes.

Amen. If I had a buck for every time I say a Bimmer or MB, I’d be a millionaire by the end of the month. I see a TL from time to time here in the San Fernando Valley area, but not that often.

There's 20 million people in the greater L.A area, it takes a much larger number of cars for a new model to stand out.

Quite a few noticed near me in Torrance

I am not sure why you are not seeing them around the Torrance and South Bay area. There are three in a four block area surrounding my house. I recently saw one in the Green color with a Gold kit. I didn't like the combo much but I am sure the owner does, and that is all that matters. I drive alot and see an average of two per day. Definately getting more popular and visible.

In Columbus, I see scads of them. Maybe 20 a day, all colors and types, everywhere. I know their made in Marysville outside Columbus, maybe it takes time to saturate the market farther away. After all, the car has only been out since late fall last year, right. Columbus is big into banking and insurance and there is money in many communities there. Not to say that LA is not a big financial player, the city is a giant. Columbus real estate is relatively cheap and people probably have some extra bucks to play around with. Thanks for the info. Eric.

I too live in Valencia, when you mentioned you put chrome wheels on it made me wonder if you were the black TL going down Rye Canyon a couple mornings ago.

I'd say that LA has more pretentious crowd (like sheeps, IMHO). Everyone (practically everyone) that wants to be seen drives a german brand and black beemers are a dime a dozen - just check 405 during rush hour. I drive down to LA from time to time and am also surprised on how few TLs I see. I think it'll have to wait until a TL is seen in a movie, a movie type drives it or some other way that makes the car trendy.

You're just jealous that there isn't a hit Fox show called "The Simi". I lived in the O.C. for 2 years, and people really have always called it that. Sounds a lot cooler now though!

I drive 60 miles a day in LA County and see maybe one 04 TL a week so far...and they're so darn fast I really don't get to feast my eyes much!

Still having trouble deciding which color to get. Seeing so few makes it hard to pick one over the others.

Definitely like the ebony interior so I guess that means AM or SSM. NBP is too hard to keep clean and RRP is a cop magnet. ABP and WDP are nice too but don't come with ebony. Decisions, decisions...

The "cop magnet" color is a myth, based on empirical evidence and by studies. I had a torch red vette for five years and never got a ticket, except for driving up Powell Street on the cable car tracks. If you like Redondo Red, go for it. I have one and it is a beautiful color especially with the parchment interior. I originally wanted the Green pearl color but was disappointed when I saw it. I was expecting a rich color green not some washed out gray-green color.

As a long-time OC resident, I can say with some certainty that the official term is "behind the Orange curtain".

Maybe for Red it is a myth. Case data in California shows that White is the number 1 ticket color. Also, you are more likely to get a ticket in the #1 ('fast') lane. I can vouch for this since I got a ticket in my White Outback while in the fast lane in October - before I bought the 04 Anthracite TL. Hopefully, I can go at least as fast as before if I stay out of the fast lane :toothless

I see anywhere from: 1 TL, 3 times a day--oh wait, that's mine..
1-3 a week in the Torrance & Redondo areas.

Doesn't bother me.
I like my Version--For now....(the next 2-4 years???)

Then,
possibly off to the next great car of that time...
