04 TL, Where's the Navi Antenna at?

Where is the antenna at for the navi system located at? I'm asking because I have heard that metallic tint could interfere with reception. But by hearing this, I assume that for that to happen, the antenna would have to be inside the cockpit.

I believe the navigation antenna is underneath the c-pillar trim on the passenger side.

So does metallic tint really hurt the TLs Navi?

Can anyone post here if they are using metallic tint in their TL w/navi? If so, has anyone had any problems?

people have had mixed results. some say that it affects it some say it doesn't. when the galleries get back up there will be alot to view. do a search because then you'll see which kind of tints work and don't work

I believe the Navigation manual says to avoid metallic tint on the back window. I believe the antenna is below the package shelf on the back window near the rear speakers. I had mine done with Huper Optic which is a ceramic tint or you can get non-metallic tints at almost any tint shop. However, I understand the non metallic tints are not as good and don't have the reflective appearance of the metallic or ceramic tints. My tint guy recommended against have metallic on the sides and non-metallic on the rear window because it would be obvious they were different tints. No problems with the Huper Optic so far.

Just have the tint shop take a piece of their tint and place it on the back window and see if it effects the GPS before they actually install it.

I think that concept is more of a CYA thing on the part of Acura. They just don't want to be responsible and pinned for fixing something that isn't their problem when people tint their windows and the navigation gets screwy.
