04 TL VS Second Gen Diamante

My first race.......and was it a good one.

I have an 04 TL (just bought it certified pre-owned) with about 35k on it. Ok so it was a second gen Diamante. Looked damn new, he has big chromies on it, and mine is bone stock. I just got really used to using the sports shifter (oh man that thing is fun)

Ok so with that said I see him coming fast in my rear view (Were on a 55mph road, route 110 for anyone who lives on Long Island NY) and he pulls up next to me and drives my speed......so its obvious so we slow down tull like 20 when the light ahead turns yellow.....perfect! Green - were off and its neck and neck, he has sligh lead since he had a better take off, but im right there, its a strait run and there are no cars, we get to like 50ish and I start pulling ahead, not by a lot, but I knew I was gonna win. Whoo Hoo First race and a win!! I would imagine his 20+ inch heavy ass chrome rims probably made a difference, but it was all good to me

I must say this car is fun, my previous car was rice rocket AT honda civic DX, so im used to losing...lol. I love this car, and cant wait untill I put and intake in this since the engine from the inside already sounds like a beast at 5k rpm+

Wow, that's surprising the D kept up! I used to own a '02 VR-X, and it was a heavy beast with a decent engine. No comparison to the power of a TL, though.

And going from a Civic to a TL is quite a jump, you must be loving every minute of it.

They make em with the diff engines:

2.5 L 6G73 V6
3.0 L 6G72 V6
3.5 L 6G74 V6

I have no idea which one he had.....He kept up for a second or two and then it was over.

My bro has a 2001 Diamante, one with the 3.5L. It's SLOW. My 2G TL-P is faster than his, and that's with less tq and 205 tires vs. 225. I think the 3.5L makes 205 hp and around 230 tq.

Well his car didnt sound stock but either way I beat him, on the way home I was linking up with a Lincoln LS but there was so much damn traffic ( I get out of work @ 4:30, just in time for traffic) Im anxious to race, but nervous to get caught......lol

yea, the 3.5L has like 231lb/ft of torque, that's why it was able to stay with you for the first few seconds, but then its 205hp didn't help it stay with you for long. Good race!
