04 TL insurance in California?

I know many of you guys new TL owners live in California and I wanted to survey how much you were paying for the TL's insurance, what insurance company, and your circumstances (age, accident history, etc)

I'm probably doing a co-sign on the car with the parents so I don't have to pay such high insurance rates, but I wanted to get a ballpark figure if at all possible.

hey, i'm in cali
called up my dad's agent @ farmers...
he gave me a quote but i haven't got TL yet... just gave deposit...

i'm getting the TL under his name... he lives in ca but got a NY commercial lic... so all of his tickets that he got on 18wheeler dont go against his insurance (good thing that farmers has an option like that for commercial drivers) my dad's age is 50...

agent gave me the quote between 130-160 per month....

i think thats preety good w/out my name on it...
i guess i'll be driving my tl w/out tellin farmers

living in the central valley with 1 accident, 1 stop light violation, and 2 speeding tickets, my insurance for 100/300k is $5600 year. of course if i moved to a different city about 10 minutes away, my insurance would drop by almost 2000 dollars.

Wow, that's higher than the rates I read in the NJ thread about insurance. Are you over 25?

$465 / 6 months.
50/100/100, $500 deductable. Clean record, 33yrs old.

BTW, I would not drive the car if you are not listed on the insurance. You get into an accident and you're not covered...

well i haven't owned a car under my name yet... cuz of the high insurance i have to pay... i have 96 accord... and i've been driving that for 3 years... and its under my dad's name... and a month ago my friend borrowed my car and got into an accident... farmers covered him for the first and last time... so i guess they'll cover me cuz i'm a family member but after that they'll give me an option to add my name or they wont cover me in future.....

so i'll drive till nothing happens... if something do happen then i have no choice to add my name

For the insurance gurus out there:

If person A and person B are co-signers on a car and both own it, and the insurance policy is under person A's name because they are over 25, safe driver, etc, can person B be added to A's policy without an increase in premium?

Re: 04 TL insurance in California?

Lore,

My premium for the 2004 TL Auto, Navi is around $500 for 6 months (that makes it about $1000 a year).

I'm with Farmers insurance, liability limits 50/100/300, deductable $1000, 34 years old, more than 15 years of driving experience, clean record, auto/home + multiple cars discounts.

Cheers.

It depends greatly on the insurance company. I know that with Farmers there is no increase only if both drivers have the same level of experience and the same cleanliness of the driving record. I learned that when I was adding my girlfriend to my insurance.

Other insurance companies may have different policies. Places like 21st Century and other web-based insurers have the most relaxed rules by my experience, but they are also the toughest to get to pay if anything happens.

Cheers.

I'm 23 with a clean driving record....

With every coverage available at their highest limits, my cost is about $800 every 6 months with a $500.00 deductible.

Age: 23
Driving Record: One point
Insurance Co.: State Farm
Comprehensive coverage w/ $500 deductible

6-month premium: $620

** Will probably be less after safe driver discount effective January (when that one point on my record has reached 3 yrs, and disappears from the record).
