Link for the ZKW-r clear lenses http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=125

Link for the Philips 85122+ http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=148

So for both 290 plus tax and if they charge for shipping and handling. So does everyone agree this would be the best setup for a 08 tl type s, if i would like brighter lights with wider angels?

took these tonight. Hopefully, you can see what I'm talking about.. When I back out, they look pretty bright and white on the garage and in yard, but once I get on the streets, they don't show up well at all..

dude tl projectors are one of the best in the world...i get nothing but compliments on my setup all the time. all the time, people tell me how bright my lights are and how mesmerized they are when they see it going down the road. i have the zkw-r lens with philips 85122+ bulbs. also i have hid 4300k foglights which go wider than my headlights. seriously, i have never met another car that can match my lighting at night...i know they are out there but i just havent met any on the road yet.

Being that your bulbs are so old they are producing anywhere from 2000~2400 lumens each, compare that to fresh 85122+ that are rated at 3400 lumens each. More importantly, old color shifted bulbs produce anywhere from 5000k to 5500k light i.e. whiter/bluer, now that my look cool but in poor weather and on freshly paved roads that means very poor visibility.

The phillips are rated at 4200k and more importantly they tend not to loose that color after they color shift .

Pictures usually dont do justice as they can be over or under exposed hence I posted a video. What you see is what you get at night.

In your case, rather than going the long route. I say just change the bulbs to phillips and call it a day.

You won't be sorry. Philips 85122+ and ZKW-R lenses are the brightest frigging setup I've ever used.
I want the CBIs, though.
BTW, JnC is DA MAN when it comes to headlights. Heed his advice.

Yes, they are difficult to do yourself. It is very easy to pay JnC to do them, however!

It's a lot easier IMO if you remove the bumper. Theirs very little play if you go through the wheel wells. There is a torx screw that needs to be removed from the cover to gain access to the bulbs, so either have a very small thin flat head or buy a torx bit with a hole in the middle of the bit. I just left the screw out after installation, I believe it's there only for a safety feature.

My car right now has the pink eye effect. The stock bulbs are just about on their way out and the light output is pretty horrible. Just got 2 new bulbs from the dealership and they aren't cheap by any means.

^^^ thats because they think your fog in the headlight housing (or DRL) is a highbeam.. got that too when I first got my car.. turned it off until I figure out how I want to change it up.. never understood why they put the fogs in the headlight housing... all my cars before had the 2nd light there has always been the high beam... oh well.. I guess Acura wanted to be different

Or it is because our projectors are the best and they don't get used to such a "bright light".

What are the bulbs that is better than the 85122+, but cheaper? It was on TRS website before, I just forgot what they are called.

I believe you are talking about the MORIMOTOS. I have their morimotos on my TL and on my FX. For some reason, they look better on my FX. Although I should point out I have 6000K on the TL and 5000K on the FX.

Is there a DIY for the replacement procedure? I'm sure I can figure it out, but it would be nice to have a step by step guide.

I can see what I can get for you if you don't find it before I post it. Are you looking more for bumper removal or headlight removal/headlight cover removal?

I should add 04-06 (I think 06 as well) have the fogs in the headlight housing.. 07-08 have the fogs in the bumper but they then have DRL in the headlight housing.. either setup can have the 2nd light on which again most people will take as high beams..

or if I am totally off the low beam light needs to be adjusted so it isnt splashing up so high on folks

Please correct me if I'm wrong,
I thought any "D2S" with the correct wattage(35W i guess?) fits 3G TLs??
There are plenty in $50 range on ebay, and I used them once on my other car, price doesn't seem to affect quality
(the ones I bought was 49.99, free shipping for a pair)

dude, that cutoff is so defined I felt like I was getting tunnel vision towards the end of the vid lol.

I bought the Philips 85122+ and installed them last night.. what a bitch to install!!! had to take the bumper off AND take the headlight housings out of the car to get to the bulbs comfortably. I don't see how anyone could so it another way without killing themselves or ruining the bulbs.

I would have to say that light output has increased by about 25%, and the light is less blueish and more yellowish, closer to sunlight I suppose. I feel like $100 was worth it in the long run.

Great choice on bulbs, once you break them in (100 hours or so; colorshift) the cut off will get more defined as it was with your old osrams.

I've been considering getting those for a while, but I have 6000K HID's as fogs and it matches perfectly...have held back from changing them becasue of it. I guess if I am not going to match top and bottom, I may go with nokya yellows for the fogs.

About bumper/headlight removal to change the bulb...honestly..., I'd rather plan bulb change out with something else then...like clearing the lights or adding the ZKW's. Taking off the bumper and headlights just to change the bulbs is a daunting task as opposted to removing the front rim and pulling the fender liner back. Just my opinion, obviously.

Idk man.. I feel like I get a little more light output than I didn with my stocks, and I think the yellowish hue gets me a little closer to sunlight, resulting in more vision, but the old ones had a nice hyperwhite look. Im hoping the Phillips will get closer to hyperwhite but keep the increased light output.

and honestly, I'm not sure if it was worth the $100 :/

1. First, can we get pics of your headlights, up relatively close, during the day. I'm wondering if you need to wetsand them or send them to JNC

2. ZkW lens will help a lot I hear. Also, maybe some fogs to fill in near the car and get that width

Passenger side headlight wouldn't come on this morning.. turned it off and on a few times and it finally came on.

Drove it home after work and tried again, and it worked. ffs, this better not be an ongoing problem!! It is a giant pain in the ass to change the bulbs, not to mention I might have a faulty $50 bulb that I got a month ago, and I doubt I could get a return/refund
