'04 TL: blue or black?

Hi, I'm about to acquire a beautiful new '04 TL after doing enough in my '02 TL-S to get arrested. The only question is: blue or black. I think black looks sharp but is high maintenance and hard to see at night (hence potentially increasing the odds of an accident). Blue seems to be a 'cheerier' colour and has a bit of tecno-chic about.

Opinions are more than welcome as I'm at an impasse right now.

Ebony is too 'blah' and Blue is too 'whoa'.

Anthracite is perfect.

iam personaly detting black, b/c i love that sporty clean look and enjoy washing my car. if your going to be lazy about washing your car then get blue, b/c its still on the dark side, but doesnt need AS MUCH maintenance as the black. and aabout the cant see at night thing, the're both dark enough not to see if the lights are'nt on.

i was at the auto show in NY last week and they had a blue TL i swear i thought it was black from the indoor lights and had to look on a different angle to see the blue. the info lady told me that the blue looks like black on some angles, b/c it has a bit of that black color and black has a bit of that blue color, b/c they are metalic paints and are'nt exactly black or blue.

in any case they are both nice colors so what ever you choose its the right pick.

not too be mean or anything, but ebony is an interior color and the exterior color for black is called nighthawk black pearl or NBP. iam sure it was a miss type anyway.

I LOVE my Blue. Not only is it a cheerier color, between the gauges, the ambient lighting at night and the distinctiveness of the TL that cries out for something that sets you apart from all the "wish-it-was-a-limo" black on Beemers and Benzes, this car was born to be blue. Finish the effect with the quartz, which completes the high tech feeling of carbon fiber, and ignore exhortations from team orang...camel to add plood and garishness to the sharp interior. I also noticed at the dealer that the black seems somehow to be supercharged with static electricity, making it somewhat more of a dirt/dust magnet than the blue. I admit in any event you're gonna be washing it a lot to keep it at its best....but I'll bet you're gonna wanna be doing that anyway! And, for all that you don't see that many TL's on the road, those that you do see are Anthracite, Silver or Black, and both the A and the B, as colors that you see quite frequently on other vehicles, reduce the "wow" effect of the TL, IMO. As Bill from Delaware has posted on this site, I have yet to see another Abyss Pearl Blue TL on any of my travels in PA, NJ or NY.

Blue! I traded my Aegean Blue TL-S for a new Black Lexus GS300 SportsDesign. This is my first black car and it will be my last black one, too. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing more elegant than a "clean" black car, but there is nothing more challenging than keeping a black car clean.

I have to agree with Wordsmith - just got my ABP with Quartz interior the other day and absolutely love it! Looks great and haven't seen one like it yet in the NY area. I also wanted a color that not everyone else has and the ABP fits the bill.

Either way you'll love the car - it is awesome!

Well, I bought neither owning silver myself, but if I bought again I would probably go with blue - this color is stunning, especially in the evenings and at night - WOW.

Actually, there isn't a bad color choice. If I could have found wheels that worked well with the desert mist metallic, I would have gotten that one.

Blue with Camel Interior is by far the best TL combo in my opinion. I'm not down at all with that rental car quartz interior. With all that said, get black. That means there will be less blue TL's on the road

agree with TLDan, Blue is also special and high tech. I just wish the interior came in ebony! - maybe I'll paint my anthracite blue!
It would be the only one with this combo. and 6MT/NAV.

somebody said... "Black & White are not colors, but shades of light."
