Not sure that the weight is that big of a deal...its only 100 lbs difference and the TL has a little more HP (which makes the HP/lb pretty even)...I think the big difference is the 6spd vs auto...then again, this is likely just a drivers race.

my friend has a CL Type-S 6sp. when i road it in and he gunned it, it seemed like since the suspension is so soft on that car the tires were just burning out. TO me the 04 TL suspension seems a lot stiffer, giving the car more grip. Of course i know absolutely nothing about suspension.

The g35 coupe MT will rape the TL Auto...that car is freaking fast.

G35 coupe > TL = CLS in pure speed (All 6-speeds).

WRONG, it depends on the driver. They are all very competitive. But, not competitive enough to 6spd TL, period.

g35 coupe 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are similar to the TL. its not going to be a rape. like the other person said it will come down to the driver. This is for a 6MT TL of course, the TL will probably not do so well against the G35 coupe 6MT.

It depends on timeslips. Has one person on this forum run a 14 flat on their 6-speed TL. I have yet to see this and until someone does, the G35 coupe still has faster times (14 flat stock g35 coupes are not that rare). Faster is a relative term and saying a TL is just as fast as a G35c is like saying a G35c is as fast as a 350Z. This ain't so. A 0.2 second difference is still about 1-2 car lengths behind.

If you actually read my post, I am comparing a 6spd G35 coupe to an auto TL...and yes, that will be a rape unless the G driver is missing their right leg and unable to hit the gas pedal.

There seems to be this myth that the G35 is fast as hell. I am going to say (having driven one a few times) that it is not. My first impression after having driven one was this is it?? It has a good amount of torque, it is relatively light, and the tail end loves to wag, but it is not as fast as everyone makes it out to be.

I happened to be in a G35 coupe (passenger) as my other buddy with an 04 Accord 6spd pulled along side. The G35 was in 3rd and we were doing about 50 or so (in the prime torque range). The driver gunned the G and the accord driver dropped it a gear and guess what.....the ACCORD pulled the G and kept on pulling. Don't get me wrong the 04 Accord is quick, but the G35 which is a "sports coupe" should have taken it....but didn't. Not with the almost 10,000 price difference!?

The TL has 9/10ths of the capability and an interior that SPANKS anything from infiniti. Plus I can comfortably cart 4 people and listen to DVD-A discs. The Infiniti system sounds horrid!!

I own both. The CL, being a manual gives you more control on accelleration and seems faster if not very close. The sport shift does help on th TL.

Unrelated but, when I drove the TL manual if felt completely different than the CL manual. I did not like it and went with the auto.

The G35 may not post insane numbers, but the numbers posted for the G35 6spd coupe are pretty damn good...the Accord story was simply a fluke as all published numbers would contest the result you saw
