'04 TL 6MT vs '05 SER 6MT
'04 TL 6MT vs '05 SER 6MT
E-Racing!
So, I have this buddy who owns an 05 SER 6MT with Intake and we always chit/chat about our cars and teasing me on how more torque his VQ35 has over our TL's...
I used to own an '04 TL AT, buddies were laughing at me at our slow my car was...and it was (15.2@92)...now things are different with the 6MT (no 1/4 mile times yet) , but all of them including the owner think he will have the edge on this race...
SER'S have 260hp/250lbs, about 50 kilos less but no LSD...on paper its faster!
Anybody with 6MT raced SER's?

Here are two videos of types09 (one of our members) racing his TL 6MT with Altima 6MT. Both cars had intake and exhaust.

Mind you though types09 ran a 13.9 when he only had an intake (ie, he has skills)

Of course, I have to chime in with regard to my son's 05 3.5SE 5MT

As there's little straightline performance difference between the SE-R and 3.5SE (the former only having 10hp/2lb-ft more than the latter on paper), a stock SE-R 6MT should be a very low 14-second car in stock trim.
Not to be discounted though is the fact that the SE-R has legit performance tires (S03s) as opposed to the touring rubber (Turanzas) on my son's Alti so, the SE-R should have a more advantageous launch (in theory anyway).
In any event, a TL 6MT should be neck-and-neck with *, provided the TL driver knows what he/she is doing.

I think another member on this forum has both the SER and a TL-S, both MT....According to him the SER always wins...more torque and a stronger 3rd gear. At the end of the day it all depends on the driver however the more i research the more i find that those VQ engines are a little more quicker than our TL's...Race him and find out! When he's not around shove a few patio stones in his trunk, that should do the trick!

not sure if it's SE-R or not, but according to F23A4, the SE-R is as fast as the Altima V6 5MT, so it really doesn't matter whether it's a SE-R or normal V6 5MT. And isn't the newer one faster?
Well, just bought a HDD Cam and im in search of a on board camera kit to hook it up and have some inside footage...to be continued...he just raced my other buddies Caliber SRT4 3rd gear roll and neck to neck all the way trough end of 4th gear...
Guess I'll need precats...

I had a ser 6mt and it was fast... alot of TQ but to much TQ hard to get off the line good ...i say it will have to come down to the driver just because on paper the car is faster doesnt mean it will always win. If the driver of the TL is a good driver he mite win...
I have an 04 tl auto and i havent raced an ser yet im still waiting to race one ,it will be a good race but if the ser is stock no way he will keep up...only bc i got alot of work done to my TL

ok in my oppinion i do think the 6mt TL will take the SE-R u do have 10Hp more but also u are alittle bit heavier then the SE-R i did get some stats but i got alot of diffrent 0 to 60 times for the Altima 6mt but kept getting the same results for the TL..
2004 Acura TL 6MT
HP-270 @ 6200
Torque-238lbs @ 5,000rpm
curb weight-3400 give or take
CAR AND DRIVER GOT THE 6 MT TL 0 to 60 in 5.7
2005 Nissan Altima SE-R
HP-260 @ 5800
Torque- 251Lbs @ 4400
Curb Weight-3300 give or take
CAR AND DRIVER had the SE-R at 0 to 60 in 6.6 secs
and EDMUNDS had it at 6.1 secs
some Sites had the Altima SE-R at 0to 60 in 5.9.so u chose which one to take there were alot of diffrent answers for the altima.
so theres the stats on paper the TL should win but as everyone else said its a drivers race. but im all for ACURA..so lets go TL..lol let us know the outcome when u guys race

the newer altima is faster. This guy JKGULTIMATE on nissan club website ran a 14.1@100MPH all stock with his 08 SE 6spd Altima. It has much better top end then the last gen altima 3.5L.

Stock for stock the Altima may pull, but it's pretty much a driver's race. They are quick, but nothing outstanding for the TL/Accord V6. I say do it and let us know! Btw after the precat deletes, you should definitely have him
Your friend needs to use premium fuel. Having owned an 02 Maxima 4AT and now owning an 07 AV6 5AT (which is on par acceleration-wise with the the 3G TL AT), I can tell you that my AV6 would get beat like a snare drum during the halftime of a football game.

I think Jeff at TOV actually got 0-60mph in 7s in the AV6 5AT, and low 6's (6.2-6.3s) in the TL 5AT. After working at a Honda dealership for several months, the lack of displacement in the Accord was quite obvious compared to my TL-S, let alone the 3.5L Max, which I also had the chance to drive (for many times too because it's one of our used cars).

Have Jeff give Csaba Csere a call to compare notes on getting the best acceleration time for the 7.5G AV6 5AT. LINK
, said race from a roll should be VERY close.

True, but don't forget the poster previous to you was comparing two pre 2006 cars, so the TL does have a roughly 10 HP advantage, regardless. The 260 HP '05 SER would probably be just under 250 HP using revised SAE methods. Nissan didn't escape the fallout.
I said a Altima Se-r would do 0-60 in 5.6-5.8s. I was saying that if a auto tl does 0-60 in 6.4sec that a altima would be a auto easy, unless teh driver sucked at stick. But a Se-r, and M/t TL would be a drivers race.

, I would have had an 07 AV6 6MT AND would have run it against my son's 3.5SE 5MT just for s--ts and giggles.
