04 6Spd vs 03 WRX

So i raced my coworkers 03 WRX with an 05 block and tranny plus lots of other mods like a bigger turbo, 3" exaust and ECU Flash. He was tellin me how his car is a beast (Nice car, Ill admit) and how he would walk on me. So we did a 40 mile roll, well i'll just say that he was surprised by my family car. Dead on until 4th gear, (that's when he left off the gas). You never realize how good your car is until you compare it. Of the line different story thought, FWD cant compare with AWD.

Note a kill, but definitely changed his mind about TLs.

No mods whats so ever on my car. Bone stock, with stock wheels, stock everything. Consider the fact that i have nearly 140k on my car when he has 11k on his motor, i think it was very good. HE claims he got 13.6 with his old setup on the track, and with his new setup low 13s. TL might not be good off the line, but second gear pull is definitely great on it.

Yea he def. didn't get low 13's unless his car is running bad when he raced you. but nice kill.

Bigger turbo? Idk about that..he may have been flappin his gums. Our V6s are quick but if he had a bigger turbo a stock TL wouldn't stand a chance. All they need is I/E/DP/tune to see around 240whp/300wtq. If he was running a bigger turbo he'd probably be pushing around 300whp/350wtq (my guess).

The 06+ with the 2.5L are a good bit faster. My boy has one, stage 2. I/DP/3" exhaust/STi front mount/Stage 2 tune and last time we ran he got just a tiny jump and pulled slowly and ended up 1 car ahead from a 40 roll to about 75. I want to run him again and do a 45 since @40 I'm not in VTEC and that's the only way I stand a chance with all his torque.

Is he tuned? If not, that's the only way I can see how you kept up. Good run tho.

He says he got a turbo leak on the exhaust line somewhere, so it might affect it. He got his original 03 heads on it. His car is quick off the line, ill admit to that. He hasn't dyno'd it yet, and didn't take to the track (closed for season), but he sure was hecka surprised. I just figured that AWD has its disadvantages at high speeds compared to FWD.

Yeah he's tuned (at least thats what he says). We did the roll from second until i hit into 4th, he probably would have pulled away later on with the turbo (but who knows). All i know that TL is great from 2nd gear pull right around 45mph.
