^ really depends on the color of your car.. I have a white 3g TL and i think the black interior stands out..
For a dark colored car, i think the Tan interior def. sticks out... Gotta love those contrasting colors

I got the tan interior on a NBP and my coworker has a WDP with a tan interior. My tan interior looks way better on mine than on his. I also keep mine in great condition, almost looks brand new compared to his because you can tell he has never cleaned and conditioned his leather so its a dirty tan.
I'll say the black interior looks sportier though. Seems like it would be expensive to change your leather seats, carpeting, wood pieces, door panels etc. Any idea how much something like that would cost?

^i have the same color combo as you...personally i think it's a more luxo look than the all black for WDP, but it's a pain and a half to keep clean...mine's dirty and i dont know what to use to clean it.

i hate my tan interior. i own a detail company, and i still cant keep it clean. the wear cracks bother me so much due to the previous owner. i have a buddy that works at a high end wrecking yard, and im waiting for a black interior TL to come in. i can get the complete interior for $1k. but i have been waiting to hear from him for 4 months now and im starting to think it will never happen....
i have NBP , on TAN........ i basically have a hookup right now through a friend of mines, that i can do the swap for free... but then.. some pieces arent in the best condition. and its missing a few stuff... carpet.. rear deck.. seat belts.. driver seat.. as those has been sold already..
i like the luxury lookof tan, but also at the same time. black is more easy to take care of... but more sporty.. im thinking it over.. lol

Yeah, black interior for sure. In fact, that is what took me so long to finally buy a car. I kept waiting to find one with dark seats in it. Something about my floor being a light color and knowing that EVERY passenger I get will be tracking in dirt and oil. Nope, dark for sure, I get mad enough with them slamming my doors all the time.
black is the way to go. But I hate light interiors, they are hard to clean and they look too "old people" like to me. But there is an exception, Dove gray interior on a Laguna Seca Blue M3 (dream car and color combo)

Black interiors all the way, they hide the dirt and scuffs that plague any light interiors...
Unfortunately for me, the TL I got had the tan interior, but I will admit it still looks sick. It goes nicely with the wood accents throughout the cabin, and I feel like I am a high roller/retiree, which is a plus for me since I'm only a junior in college. The old man stigma isn't too big of a deal, because it still outclasses anything I see students driving around here. The sexiness factor is there regardless, but black interiors would make for the ultimate Knight-Rider.
Not to mention, the interior doesn't get too hot when it's a ligher-colored interior when it's sitting out in the sun, especially for me since the car is black and it can get blazingly hot here in Utah.

I prefer tan but it would not go with my ext color. Tan is cooler than black and doesn't fade as quickly but does show dirt more. Stay with tan.
I have the RBP with tan and hated cleaning the tan until I found a great trick... if you use the leather cleaner/protectant and apply with a Magic Eraser and then wipe off with a damp cloth, the tan comes clean, like new... I chose tan b/c I have a Siberian Husky and even though she rarely rides in the car, the hair is impossible to get out of the dark color carpets...
When we were looking to replace my wife's car and I first started thinking about possibly including the TL in the short list, I came across a black TL with the tan and wood grain interior. At first I didn't think I'd like it, as I'm usually a black or dark grey interior man, especially for the seats.
But when I sat in the car, with the incandescent interior lights on, the richness and warmth of the tan and wood grain just made the whole cabin feel really cozy and luxurious. The black trim on the top of the doors and dash kept it from being too syrupy and provided some nice contrast.
This made quite the impression on me so I brought my wife back to look at the car. We both sat in the back, like a passenger, again with the interior lights on (it was in an underground garage so there wasn't much coming in from outside). It was even more impressive sitting in the back. Both my wife and I ended up loving that interior.
We didn't buy that particular car as it sold right after we looked at it, but it made quite the impression so we kept looking, preferably for one with a tan interior. We also wanted a 6spd manual though, and I could not find any '04 - '05 MTs (Dynamic model) with the tan interior. Maybe the Dynamic was never offered with the tan interior, only the "Premium"?
We ended up finding an '05 6MT in Anthracite, with the black, carbon and aluminum interior. It is a very nice interior but definitely not as warm and cozy feeling as the tan. My sister-in-law ended up getting a TL as well, based on our favourable reviews, but she got an '04 AT in Desert Mist (gold/beige) with the tan. If her interior was in better shape than ours, it's got some marks and the leather has more "wrinkles" (not cracks yet but will be if they're not kept on top of), our cars might "mysteriously" swap interiors one day!!

I've got a dark interior on my car and I love it. I think it gives a classy, upscale appeal, not to degrade tan interior at all. Bit easier to clean, too.
Don't get us wrong, interiors in general are a bitch to clean. But I've seen neglected tan interiors and neglected black interiors, and the black hides its dirt a bit better. I also find that it looks better when clean. My

I have AM with black interior, which is the only color interior that looks good in my car.
However, NBP/Camel combo
, same goes for the WDP. You really can't go wrong with either. But if you don't like it and it can be changed for free than I say go for it. Ultimately its your decision.

I had a black interior in my 01 CL-S and now I have tan in my 04 TL. Both get just as dirty just as quick I think.
But yes I would change my interior to black if I had the opportunity. White on black is baller status

I have black interior on my nbp. I wanted the blk/camel combo at first. After looking at some TL's on the dealer's lot I changed my mind very quickly. Camel interior looks very nice, but it shows alot of wear especially the seats. The black interior does much better and i think it looks better at nite.
Hmmmm...depends on what your priorities are. I had a minivan with tan leather and carpets and hated it - every little stain and spill showed up (I have 3 kids). My other car has a black interior and my TL has a black interior. I can say the black is much more forgiving of dirt/stains than tan.
Tan on the other hand looks great when you can keep it clean, but it takes a lot of effort to keep it prisitine.
IMO Tan = sexy, Black = sporty/practical

i chose Black on Camel, because of the woodtrim... i also added the oem wood steering wheel, knob + the oem dash trims.....
i liked the baller (camel with wood) look over the sporty (black with CF) look... but sometimes, you just get bored of it and want to switch up lol..
im thinking about a TWO-TONE thing.... like change all my PLASTIC pieces +glove box+dash to blac... and leave all the leather pieces CAMEL... < how do u guys think that would loook??
oh and maybe get all black suede headliners /pillars/ rear deck..
let me know what u guys think.... considering i can basically swap my interior for free.

I would be happy with either but I chose the black for less upkeep. The NBP is already hard enough to keep up on the outside, might as well have an interior that's easy. I just wish it was more black and not charcoal.
Mix it up...
Mix it up, that was th fun part.
I did the "black and tan" theme. All black is too hot in the summer, but I like the sportier accents the black offers. i I did besy of both worlds.
I replaced the following parts:
- all the fake wood in the console and doodrs with CF parts from the black interior.
- all tan door and console armrests with black leather rests
- all 4 tan headrests with black ones
- rear tan deckcover with a black one
- all tan lower a,b,c pillars with black
- all tan seat control buttons with black
- all 4 tan trimmed door seals with all black ones
- tan overhead lighting surround and sunroof cover handle with black ones
- all 4 tan oh shit handles with black ones
- added black all weather mats
... probably a few other details as well. Now It's got a nice tan base (flooring, ceiling, and seats), with black everything else...
I should snap a pic or 2.

^ I'm with Mr. Bell. I think the NBP / Camel combination is classy and adds to the luxury look of the TL!
